Good Day.

Guten Tag,
finished the snail documentary..........still thinking about this couple.  inspired by them, he wrote an essay & submitted it to a literary contest.  it was about the story of how he met his wife.  it was lovely, very simply stated........he did not win, he promised to try again, accepted the outcome gracefully........he opened with the day he met an angel of a lady .......spoke of the wonder of her, the simplicity of the life they gradually found together and shared that this angel was now his wife.
they parted one day......he got on the bus to go to a class.  she trying to help him continue to be as independent as possible, he to be sure not to lose skills to navigate on his own.  they contemplated with others about the good and not so good of this with friends and then with each other.
she wiped away tears as she stood watching the van door slide closed.  she later confided her loneliness to him.  she said the air felt very cold without him beside her.  he said he understood, for when he is alone he feels like an astronaut in space floating about untethered to anything.......(i'm paraphrasing, but semi close i think)   he pulled her close to sit in the crook of his arm........it was sweet.
there is a scene at the park where he communes with and hugs a tree.  i played in trees as a child, climbed them, sat in the tree house in the old apple tree.........had a plank on a flat branch to use as a cookstove........ even had a tree branch i used as my trusty steed..........and could oversee the edge of the neighborhood from my hidden spot in the thick branches........but i don't think i have ever hugged a tree.  i am going to do that.......very soon.  i am going to walk to the back where the smaller pines rise high in the sky, lean in, close my eyes, feel the bark, feel the strength and just take it in with my eyes closed.............if that makes me a tree hugger then good on me. i want to commune with a tree.
try to imagine how he feels in a world where he can only hear the loudest sounds, and can only tell light differences when the change is extreme.......like on a train when they go from the light into a tunnel.  many of us have challenges and many of us know nothing of the challenges of others.......
wow, i have got to clean the lampshade on my desk lamp.  seriously .....like asap.  gonna get the lint roller......now!
he spoke at one point about how although in this life he does not have the gift of hearing and sight, that he knows they are out there.........somewhere out there in the vastness of the universe and that one day they will return to their master and he will be whole.
i like having things to think about.  i got to bed late, and slept in late.  got up & put the clothes in the dryer/garbanzos in the frig/eggs on to boil, and got Russell singing.  Russell Watson, some of the songs are with the Royal Philharmonic and some with the London Session Orchestra.......it all sounds great!  I have the lemon bar mix sitting here.  we're looking at each other.  i gave most of the brownies to Sam on Saturday night........sometimes us mommas gotta feed others, share the bounty.  hard to stop.  he can always share them with his workmates.  Krusteaz mixes are awesome if you haven't ever tried them, the crumb cake is incredible, super easy too!  They have honey cornbread that is ez and crazy delish.........most of the mixes call for water/eggs/some of your time.  I love easy and I like to have variety at home.  The lemon bar box also shows how you can turn the mix into amazing lemon cheesecake bars, too bad that i haven't any cream cheese. bummer, looks yummy.
i watered the plant babies. when i was first at home in 2010 i had zero.  then three, then started rooting cuttings and now we are a family of twelve.  something in my mental health gut knew i needed to have growing living things nearby.  to keep Annie & I company.  Now we have Rio as well........funny little Rio. Finiculi - Finicula is playing.........it's a happy song!  A toe tapper........Rio sat in the crook of my arm this morning, he watched the end of the documentary with me........then they both reminded me that breakfast was running late......seems that their chef (moi?) was having a late lie in but enough is enough........cats can't run on air alone.  they are sweet and only slightly pushy.  poor kitties, had to wait so late for mom to get up.
i'm going to go in search of the right chicken enchilada recipe, thank goodness for google!  i have thawed chicken, green chilis, mini tortillas, white cheese sauce........& hopefully whatever else is needed!  wish me luck!!!!!!!! yes, it's my first time making this dish.  so many firsts still ahead........hugs!
the final song is playing.......... love this song........"Nessun Dorma!" time to hang up the clothes, thanks for being you, find something to encourage you, that helps you smile.......i'm moving slow, but 80 times better than yesterday.  that is a lot of times better!  i'm not afraid to stand up today.  big big difference.
