thunder drums play a staccato beat in the sky.  leaves sway in the wind.  rain falls in sheets, races down the drive........rain drop chasing raindrop.  it's gonna be a photo finish.................fog is rolling in.......and the ancient sounds of mother earth storming drive the beat harder & harder.
lately i haven't had the words........they are stuck in some file high up in the space above my ears.  almost feel right, but not coming from the same place, usually i just prattle on without thinking and let the writing come.  yes, it's coming, just not rolling with the same whatever it is that feels so right.  can't explain it.......so let's move on.
annie is sitting on top of my car in the nice dry garage.  she looks content from her tall tower......she surveys her kingdom.  she is very queenly my annie.  rio ..........sweet funny rio runs his sprints.  from the far wall in the master bedroom to the french doors in the kitchen.  his trot becomes a run and then he is galloping with all his feline might.  i imagine that he is a sleek greyhound jungle cat, he is so  fierce.
the rain has gotten heavier........more purposeful.  wonder how many families dashed to cover up picnic tables, save fires for bbq.........how many bike riders tried to reach cover.......how many motorcycle riders are waiting it out beneath an overpass or a heavy copse of trees.
this is a glorious storm....
for those tucked safely inside.  i am late rising today.  noon - noon thirty.  then i came in to start the steak chili.  i cut the steak tips in half, chopped vidalia onion, grabbed the pepper........looked in the frig for 1/2 bottles.  1/2 bottles are usually hiding somewhere when you live on your own.  1/2 container of broth or spaghetti sauce.  something that can add to the glory of steak chili.  loud crash...........that sounded very close. hello thunder.........hello!
i opened the cans of ranch beans.  ranch beans add a savory touch - prefer them over kidney beans.  i don't have any chili packets, so i use 1/2 pack of taco seasoning.  no matter what you put in it, it always turn out rich, delicious, it's very mild, not hot.....but not bland.
carly is singing "Let the River Run.......come the new Jerusalem".........great song.  there are so many ways to combine notes to lift the heart.  i'm spending time circa TV 1984......"Murder, She Wrote" this week-end.  My son Sam was 4 that year, we lived in Santa Barbara just above the ocean......we built the grandest sand castles. ................it's fun to watch, remember so many movie stars who guest starred on the show.  Some really great performers, it's campy & the story lines are improbable sure, but I still like it......it's soothing.
the music stopped..............dude!  what happened?  shucky darns.  now i've lost my rhythm.  rhythm is hard for me to remember how to spell.  the rain has abruptly stopped.  the thunder is retreating, .....reminiscent of the hooves of wild horses pounding along the beach..............storms are so alive.  so vibrant.
bruce was going to come and plant my patio plants in the ground around six.  i called him to reschedule.  no point dealing with mega muddy mess.  it's good to have the soil softened up, but right now, the water is puddled on the ground next to my patio is several inches deep ------ it can wait!  the plants need to be in the ground sometime in the next few weeks......so they can go dormant in the Georgia dirt & clay.  get ready to hibernate until spring!
sending soft hugs, gonna go see what happened to carly simon.........hope she's alright.  if ya wanna pull up a chair later, the chili will be ready & if i get a second wind, there will be corn muffins too!  that's the plan..........(((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))
the sky has gotten very very dark.......i think we're about to have round two!  the thunder is getting closer..........oh my!  the chili is starting to smell good.  a special note of thanks to whoever created the crock pot!!!!!!!!!!  yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As always your journals are so colorful with words...that dance across the paper. Hubby was just says, he could go for some corn muffins. He hasn\'t had them in ages. Me don\'t like corn muffins :(. Hubby slow cooked baby back ribs all days. Yummy & some corn on the cob, for just the two of us. With my Sjogren\'s there\'s allot I can\'t ER. Nothing salty, spicy or the texture is rough. I ready to give into baby food. :(
We had a storm her this evening, while I was napping. I ws in & out of sleep. The thunder woke me a few times. It got really black looking out, then the thunder, lightning & rain came again after I got up. Good thing hubby didn\'t cook his ribs on the grill outside. Glad you were up to working Ruthie. Have you heard from Sam & Sara? How is Carol doing? You are always in my prayers. Xoxo

Happy all is good in your writing! You just gather us all up in your words and then spread a wonderfu picture of whatever is on your mind, Ruthie! It\'s such a gift. I am experiencing rain and thunder and lightening today too. It\'s Labor Day!!! All the beach goers are wildly disappointed. I supposed Georgia soaked soil wouldn\'t be a good place for Bruce to plant. Gotta wait till the time is right.

Yum on the food aspect of this journal! SLURP!!! And muffins. I LUV muffins. Blueberry would be my favorite....but I love corn muffins. My mom didn\'t bake. So I don\'t. Find it to be time consuming and my feet don\'t like the kitchen floor. It means work...and waiting......and BLECH. Otherwise, in good health, I think I would LOVE to make muffins!! And bake cakes!!!

I have Carly\'s albums. You remember \"You\'re so vein\"? I do believe she wrote that for James Taylor when they were married. Funny how little bits of things creep into your head at the wierdest times. I didn\'t even realize that I remembered those two were married. UGH! Brain smog!!

SLeep well tontie, Ruthie! Happy Labor Day!
