Strange mood tonight.
Restless and sad.............if I were a picture I would be a small boat drifting on the water......rain hitting my deck........one small vessel floating aimlessly in the dark.
If I was a flower, I would be that odd scrappy bit of green out in the desert. Never knowing that it was the rain that got me here........not knowing that more rain could keep me here.
If I was a voice, I would have a mournful cry. A deep keening sound that would rent the earth. There would be a mighty jagged tear. It would pierce the soul ..... it would release the hold fear has from any and all things that go bump in the night.
If I was a child, I would play harder and longer this time. I would climb more trees, fly more kites, eat more dandelion pie and take more risks.
If I was a heart, I would beat inside the hearts of my parents now gone. I would beat out a rhythm so strong they would not, could not hold back........from hugging us, from saying I love you, from saying I am so proud of you. From saying you are precious. I would be brave. I would take them by the hand and help them.
I sit here and pretend ....... I play the fake it to make it game on a night like this. Fake it until I feel better. I think I had better read from my b i b l e for awhile. Read a few shorts from my cup of comfort series too. I don't know about you, but I sometimes I could use a hug.
If I was snow, I would fall and fall. I would drift and I would sigh. I would finally understand....that I am not really confused. I am like the snow.......my thoughts like the myriad of sparkly unique snowflakes against the street lamp that flicker and float. And then I would see the beautiful meadow of white blanketing the earth and I would not be afraid of my thoughts any longer. I would see the beauty of the snow fall and I would sleep peacefully.
If only I could understand that I can.......that I am capable, brave and strong. If only I could understand that is the way of us.........that we are so amazingly able to see it in others and it seems to elude us when we are alone in the dark.
This little light I'm gonna let it shine. We need to own the fear, feel it and do it (life) anyway. Forge a path, make our way.
Good night from a small flickering light in the Georgia night sky. Sleep well, sweet dreams........good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Don\'t be sad. You have so much life in you. You are so expressive with your words. Let your little light shine. The hills are the sound of music. Lovely music calling out to you in the dark. Be brave my soul. Row row row your boat gently down the stream...Sending lots of gentle hugs your way. Sleep tight and don\'t let the bed bugs bite. Love ya Ruthie :)
Ruthie,
You need to send this one to more than just the people here on DS. So beautifully written & so much from the heart. Send it to \"Guideposts\" - Reader\'s Digest or some magazine that would get the word out for you.
I\'m with 1sugarbear.....I\'ve always felt that you should share your heartfelt writings, that are so beautifully written with others, or in a column or magazine of sorts! This was so beautifully descriptive and heartwarming. So glad I stumbled upon it in the middle of the night when I was feeling just like this, but couldn\'t put it into words......
So beautiful
