I was still counting sheep at 4 am ........drifted off and now i am reviewing the situation.  my boat has gone off course maties.  need to check the coordinates, hope for a stiff breeze and maybe in a few days when the constellations are high in the sky i will find my way back.
it is now 2:33 pm, the rain is ongoing..........my get up and go has got up and went.  i fed the sweet kitties who cuddled close.  they always do that when i get this way.  they are purring comfort providers.
i am walking a little better today.  my back gets so angry........i stand, but can't straighten.  if you are able.... try this with me, stand up very slowly......bend so that you are apx. 4 inches shorter than usual........bend & lean to the right.........your left shoulder will be a lot higher.......your left arm has numbness/tingling......the lower part of the arm feels so queer......not the pain of a broken arm, but it is dangling loosely, (think of a puppet on a string). it feels disconnected.  spasms and pain in your back and just below the waist are startlingly painful. i use my quad cane and sometimes wish i had a walker.  i take a step. wait as the pain shoots upward usually (sometimes downward) and then bring up my other foot.  step together step, it is slow going, but thankfully my home is small.  a wonderful blessing.  the pain is so right there, in the middle of my road.  I can't get around it......can't get under it, gotta maintain slow and steady.  We all know the importance of being the tortoise in the race.  I give the speedy hare the peace sign and press on......
God holds me close on those days.  once i lay down the spasms settle down and the pain stops.  if i am still and quiet, so that is what i do. it is my best praying time.  i feel so close to God.  so aware of His presence
My neck is having problems of it's own......limited turning radius and pain is primary.  I look out the window and I hear the rotating sound of crunchy gravel.  It is my neck.  Amazingly durable all things considered.  The neck has such an important job, it holds up our big bowling ball heads......no small feat.
Annie cat is very careful with me.  She is incredibly aware & solicitous of my difficulties.  She gently leaps across me from one arm of the recliner to the other on the bad Fibro days.  She sleeps at my feet via the footstool by the couch.  If it is a bad day, she sleeps closer to my head......the back of the couch or near the pillows near my head.  She gives me a wide berth when I walk.  If it's a good day she knows that too.........she will rub my legs and meow hopefully to remind me of dinner.
Annie and Rio get dry food in the morning and then split a can of cat deliciousness that i think must have kitty crack in it, cause they go slightly mad & delirious whenever that can is being opened.  Rio is a talker........he has lots to say.  Annie is a woman of few words, but what she has to say is worth listening to.  They are opposites in every way until play time.  Then they are delightful powerful sleek playing streaking flying happy playful kitty cats.  They bat and chase and fly.........its wonderful.
Rio is still such a baby.......still learning.....he doesn't know to move out of my path always.  He will wrap himself up in my feet......or go a step or two and plunk down right in my path.  On bad days I have to be very careful.  Rio has to learn to be mindful as do I not to fall.  I haven't hit the floor in a long time now, but I still fall onto and into furniture.  The couch, the bed, the chair.....etc are all giant catcher's mitts for the days when I am none too steady on my feet.  I adore my kitties........we are a team and Rio is just a toddler, so we aim for patience and know that he will learn in time to be a better  helper to me when I am in a tough spot walking.  He will.......he's a sweetie just like his big sister.
Just this morning as I was waking up, Rio started to climb on my shoulder ......stopped, jumped off the bed......came around to the other side and got back up on the bed. The fibro is ramped up right now, so I feel like a big ol black and blue pin cushion.  He was being so gentle.......his small paws were on my hands.  it was so comforting to hear his purring and feel his soft little gray paws...........he is mighty sweet.......we'll get there.  I promise I try to be extra careful, i was fearful of falling yesterday, the sink edge saved me yesterday when I almost tripped on Rio......  I made it the 4 or 5 steps to my rolling chair and thanked God for grace. (my rolling chair is an office chair, high backed, super padded, helps me a lot on the bad days, it is awesome.)  and i keep my old one in the garage.....it is such a help in the garage and even on the driveway.  i can water my plants w/the curly hose sitting down.
I try to always remember to wear my pendant, but sometimes when i wake up I forget......i'm out of it.  the security pendant.......is our friend.  i have it hanging on my quad cane right now, Rio thinks it is a toy.  i have a lot of good days, i don't dwell on the rough waters all the time i promise.
the rain has stopped, it is so quiet...........so peaceful.  hugs, Ruth

Sending you prayers Ruthie! It\'s been storming here allot this afternoon. Aches & pains pop up all over, any time. My neck is crunching & cracking. I have limited rotation too. I think the rainy days make my pains ache more. I did get out this morning & felt normal for awhile. :) angel hugs xoxo
