pg_1884036196.jpgI am sending everyone on DS a special bouguet of fresh flowers, you deserve it. You are great friends and have helped me so... much. Just having you there to support me and compiserate with me is wonderful. You're there for me whether I'm up or down. You offer me a shoulder to cry on when things get tough and supply laughter at the right moments. THANK YOU !!!!smiley-smile.gif

After my major meltdown on Sun. night I have slowly got to a place where I can handle most of my emotions, not good yet bat bareable. But it's just lurking below the surface so I need to stay away from situations that can trigger it again.

I went to the mental health clinic yesterday to meet with a lady who is doing interviews for a women's health group in Oct. We spent an hour in discussion,. She feels I am a good candidate for the program. It is held every Thurs for 2 hours for 6 weeks. I hope i come away with some new knowledge that will help me deal with some of my issues. Even if I make a few new friends for a support group that would be great. You can never have enough support.

Michael and I are headed to Halifax to take in the paper work for our passports. hope they're alright. I really took my time and then took them to the local office to make sure everything was in order. We are going to kennel the dogs and spend the night in a hotel. We will shop and eat out. A nice relaxing change, Hope it does me good.

Well, I have to have breakfast so I'll close for now. Be well, Debbie

Thank you for being such a terrific mom through all the tribulations with your daughter. My mom CAUSED that kind of trouble with me, and is still in so much denial, (or lying) she thinks I am lying and making it up (or says I am)...and that\'s the lighter stuff of my memories with her!!! I am SO glad you stuck by her side.

If you are going out of the country, does she have a serrugate \"mom\" she can call in case of emergency? She is almost guaranteed to come up with some kind of crisis and need to talk with you, or even make you want to come home -- she doesn\'t do that on purpose to manipulate, it\'s just how she responds because she feels vulnerable if you leave her.
I would think twice about a support group right now....if you are not emotionally stable. A support group is almost guaranteed to trigger your own stuff as others talk about theirs....whether you are ready for it or not. If it is more of an informative class, that is different.
I have had mostly good experiences with support groups, but one was totally devastating. It is the one that triggered the permanent loss of custody all of my children. I later read in a book written for MH professionals, that government funded support groups are often foisted onto patients who are doing one-on-one with a government therapist, because 1) it is cheaper to do therapy with a group, and 2)they will lose funding for the group if there are not enough members to join it....I don\'t know if you are seeing a private counselor or not, but they should be aware of this so be sure to let your therapist know about what happened in your journal, and any other emotional difficulties you\'ve had lately so he/she can be sure whether or not you can tollerate a group session. It is not as easy as one-on-one, where you are in control of what you talk about.
