Just kind of a so,so day. Not up but not really down. I went to the gym this a.m.. did my 40 min workout, I am gradually increasing the difficulty of the exercises. I promised myself 5 days a week, last week I was successful. This week so far I have gone twice. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my counsellor, we will be working on chapter 5 of the book and exercises designed to help me overcome my perfectionistic behaviours. And boy, do I have a lot of them!!! I have been a perfectionist all my life. My father is this way too, I think that's where it comes from.. When I say my dad was a perfectionist, I mean big time!!! Here is an example: He scraped the shutters on the house and of course the peeled paint went on the lawn. He tried to rake it up but not all of it would come up, a few pieces remained. This was not acceptable to him. So he goes in the house and gets mom's vacuum cleaner and is outside vacuuming the paint chips up. He was also the only person in the neighbourhood that had to have curtains on his shed. I come by my behaviours honestly. Not making much headway on my rug. I can't seem to get motivated yet. I'm sure it will come. I have a rug hooking class on Sept. 17th. we are going to be looking at how to do landscapes. I hope that I am well that day. My girlfriend is coming with me so at least I won't be alone and feel out of place. I get very panicky when I'm by myself in a new situation. It's funny before I was bipolar I was the first one to try something new and adventurous. Hop in the car and take off at a moments notice to go camping, day trip to the city, trips with my girlfriend to the States. Anything goes, I was not afraid to do anything by myself. Now I have trouble going to the grocery store alone. I really hate what this disorder has taken away from me!!!! Better stop now I'm getting upset.Be well, Debbie

Hi Debbie, I hope you get out to your class. Do you remember the first day I volunteered at school? I was so nervous!! I almost didn\'t show up after thinking about it all weekend. And then the first thing you asked me to do was photocopying and the machine ran out of paper. I wasn\'t used to doing that and went and told you the copier didn\'t work. I was so embarrased that day!!!!! LOL
I\'m glad you have a friend going with you. Take care hugs Cathy

Hi Debbie, You sound like me. I was always told I would not go to college
Guess what I was a few classes short of a degree in Early Childhood Development. I never thought I would live by myself when I seperated from my x after 30 yrs. I never have done any rug hooking. It must be alot of fun. I Knit, do needle point, cermamics. I also like to go to yard sales. I hope you\'ve had a great and busy day. If I don\'t go the grocery store we would not eat. My husband doesn\'t like to go shopping.Take care of yourself ssuba

I had to laugh imagining your dad vacuuming the grass ;0)))
I can so relate to being the perfectionist. Procrastination is another one for me. I\'m wanting to get started sewing some lap quilts for xmas presents, out of some of Mom\'s shirts, she passed on 9 yrs ago. I even set up my sewing machine 2 months ago, hoping to get started. It\'s still sitting there waiting on me to get started. Oh well, one day soon, I hope. Debbie, it sounds like the exercising is starting to help ya feel better, good for you.
((hugs & LYLs)) Love & Light be w/You, Shellie

Hi Debbie, 40 miles is totally cool. How do you do it? Remember you started just with 7 miles. What is wrong with perfectionism? Why do you need to overcome it? I hate to buy grosseries alone too.

It is always painful to think about life before illness. I hope it didn\'t depress you too much. You seem to really be on the road to improving your life. You do everything you can to make it better. I think you are awesome! Hugs and more hugs, Donna
