14th April - 27th April; in which I almost lose my temper and crawl through a mud pit
Dearest Kitty, I haven't written for a while, and this won't be too long because it's lights out in about nine minutes...oh, no, now it's eight. Anyway, there isn't much news. Titlewise, it's mainly because of the last three days.Today's Monday, and our Field Weekend started last Saturday. The Navy (the CCF section I'm in) went to Portsmouth and stayed in HMS Dolphin! It was really fun. On Saturday evening, we went to a fair, which I'm sure would have been really good fun...if it hadn't been closed. The amusements were still open, though, so Garrood beat me on the dance machines and I used up a whole pound in two pences. Then, on Sunday morning, we finally did something CCF related! We ended up doing an assault course - and I though Sunday was a day of rest! - which was when we had to go through the mud. That was definitely NOT the highlight of the trip; if there's one thing I really, really can't stand, it's mud *shudder* Things looked up because the rest of the day was spent either in two overly large sardine tins - by which I mean a bus and a submarine - and a cinema. '17 Again' was such a good film (you can tell I've been watching a lot of films recently - you'd better be careful or I'll start quoting 'Anchorman' at you!) Monday morning, we went to a 'hands-on' Naval museum which was actually really fun! There was a helicopter simultor and things, so it was actually rather interesting...and that was when I almost lost my temper. There's an exceedingly irritating boy in my year who really doesn't like me and has covered my right arm in bruises, with the help of his army boots. Anyway, it doesn't matter but he's basically been a complete THING all the way through the weekend and I very nearly completely flipped out - I did flip a bit and then went away, but it was only a little bit, so it's not too bad. I'll write more tomorrow; Hannah and I are very tired, so we're having a relatively early night. I'm sorry about all this; I expect you're completely fed up with all my rotten old news! We'll just have to wait for something interesting to come along!Anyway, more tomorrow. Yours, Francesca E.A. Smith (Able Seaman) :D
