im afraid 4 my son...im watching the movie glory road...a story about the first team with many blk players that goes to the ncaa champ...of course they had death threats and racism and u know now the game of basketball is dominated by blk men and the way the game is played has been transformed. anyway he was sitting in my lap actually looking at the tv....i encountered racism in my life, but i nvr felt physically threatened...only my feeling were hurt. but hes a boy and he will likely had a very dif experience...my husband didnt, but he is laid back and quiet..passive personality...my son might b like him, but he might be like me or like my brother...we have the same genes and if he attempts to do domething extraordinary that draws attn to him...it wont matter what his personality is...i am afriad 2 c him get his feelinsg hurt and worse yet him get hurt physically...i didnt really think about it with my gurls, but it can happen with them too...but my boy i am really afraid for him...i know god will b there with him all the steps of his life...and i will b there too...i would give my life 4 any one of theirs....i am like a lioness protecting her cubs...i will protect them as much as i can...i will teach them to protect themselves and to know god so that god can protect them..... i am afraid, but god did not give us a spirit of fear, the lord gave us power. fear can not stop one from doing what needs to be done...i will raise them to b strong enuf to trust god and move when god says move no matter how afraid they r...amen

I worry about that too. Especially since we live in a predominantly white town. I am sure I wont be here but another 2 years though.
I am white but I grew up in a racially mixed neighborhood, and that is where I live now. My best friend is black. I moved to southern VA for my 1st teaching job, and I couldn\'t believe the racism. I never knew people could act that way. I hope that all parents raise their children to believe that it\'s what\'s on the inside that counts. I will pray for your son, and that nothing will happen to any person just because of the color of their skin.
Those are gorgeous pictures. I just saw them. U have a lovely family.
