Dad

How sad for him to be alone in his mid-80s.  I've seen him once in over two months.  There's no way I'm going back because I realize he's been faking this dementia like one of those controlling mothers in the old movies.
I'm not buying it.  He's just old and a little insane.  Same old, same old.  So yesterday he was upset because I had a job interview.  He didn't want me to go.  He's been trying to get me to quit my job since I got the first one at 15.  The interview went well, but dad had sat around angry all day.  He can't stand it when he's not in control.
Anyhow, long story short, he called and told me he wanted his door key back because he didn't know what me and that man were up to.

What man?  I asked.  And he started screaming and I hung up.  Because one.  There is no man and two, if there were, what is it to him?

I've come to realize that some people like spreading misery and he's always been that way.  He's the type of person that will make all sorts of stuff up just to hurt you.  Only he's wasting his time because I can block all of his phone calls, which is exactly what I did.  He leaves messages, but the phone doesn't ring.  And no way am I listening to them because I know the poison that he spewing.
He's a sad man and I told him that. Earlier this week I asked him why he says things to hurt people?  I really wanted to know.  I asked does it make you feel more powerful?  Stronger.  What does it do for you?  Silence followed like I never heard from him.  It was if he were shocked that I could see through him so easily.
So that's it.  I'm going into my 3rd month of freedom.

Good for you. Keep it up. You are doing the right thing. I bet it surprised your dad greatly that you saw right through him. Its about time someone did what you did to your dad. He just caused misery and evil to a lot of people but especially those closest to him. I feel sorry for your late mom.

Could your dad be mentally unstable since the day he was born.

it\'s his loss, not yours.....you don\'t need his BS as all it will do is make you upset, nervous and etc....you take care of yourself...no one else will....hugs, Sandi
