Turn Sunday into something different, do it deliberately and every week, whether you feel like it or not. If you don\'t attend Church, then go; if there\'s a food pantry that prepares meals for the homeless, make the commitment for two to three hours every Sunday. If there\'s a anything, any charity, that needs help, including the Humane Society, volunteer for Sundays. Trust me. I did it. It erased the power of Wednesday.

You know, I never thought I would survive either. But the first thing I did when the cop in my home put his arms around me and said, \"Jill, I\'m so sorry\" was to tell him to call an ambulance.

The healthy mind continues to struggle in the face of horror. Those with mental illness cannot always do so and, as we both know, there are degrees of mental illness that make surviving it almost statistically impossible.

Twelve weeks is no time at all. One day, Sunday will no longer cause you grief; and a certain time of day will no longer cause you grief. You do behavior modification on yourself with your intelligence, not your emotions, and counter conditioning is the first way to start changing associations. A drive that reminds you of things that bring you pain must be used for something positive, over and over and over again, until your mind no longer succumbs to the fight/flight response. This is hard work. It takes persistence and time and commitment. But it does help enormously.

Yes, my daughter\'s life support was taken off on Sunday...Now it doesn\'t affect me anymore after 5 1/2 yrs. It will not ever go away but it does ease as time goes on...just keep taking those baby steps...

Oh dear Gina, twelve weeks! So new, so raw, so still in shock. I know it won\'t feel like it now, but those weeks will turn into months and then years. But for now, you have my gentle hugs and prayers that each day brings you the ability to sleep, pray, remember, cry, scream if you have to. Heart filled hugs to you. We are here for you on this journey. Remember, we are on it together, just some are ahead of others. It seems like yesterday that I was writing words that made no sense to me. RIght now, you need hugs and I have tons of them for you.
