Happy

Read this on another site:  A question was asked, to someone who had lost their child, but not just the "general question like at the grocery store", but by someone who really wanted a true answer...
I thought about the question...Her answer had been 5 years ago as she turned to way to her son goodbye as he was leaving to go somewhere...
I thought about my answer....Sept 09, when Ken had been off Chemo for about a month and he had found a great Mom and Pop Pizza place and couldn't wait to take us there, and he was able to sit with us the entire meal, talk and joke and laugh and then we went outside to get in our cars to leave and he is showing me where "Cracker Barrel" was from the Pizza Place....2 years ago a Day in Sept is the last day I remember being "Happy"....

Love you Ken...I know your happy...Love Mom

I was driving to work on Thurs. Feb. 24th, 2011. As I went down the road I saw my son\'s big white Chevy truck pass me with the little girls in it. He was off work for the week and taking them to school & daycare. I remember being so proud of the man he had become. That was my last Happy day. He died two days later. Now there are days when I\'m just less sad, that\'s about as good as it gets. Hugs.....Debbie

Sept. 1st, this year. Omega, my friend and I were on a small shopping trip, out of towm. We had gone into a store to return something she had bought. My phone rang. It was my daughter in law, telling me that my son was gone. Dead, at 48 yrs. old, of a massive heart attack.
I feel like an empty shell. No happiness left in my heart.n some ways, I am also dead...

The last time I saw Corrie was waving goodbye to her at security at Seatac Airport as she was on her way back to Chicago for the final quarter at Northwestern. That was in late March.

On July 27th, four months later, I was uneasy all day and was at an outdoor Sculpture Park in downtown Seattle with Corrie\'s sister, Allie. At 8:30 pm, as it turns out precisely the moment Corrie died 3000 miles away on the east coast, my feet began to hurt in excruciating pain and Allie suddenly felt very ill. We both ran to the car and drove home. The rest of the evening is a blur until the unimaginable midnight phone call...

Most of my days are okay, punctuated by occasional meltdowns. I have moments of true happiness when I get lost in a fun activity. Nothing sparkles like it used to, that\'s for sure!

Sending love and tight hugs your way, sweet Sandi ~ Debbie

this brings back memories but it was not that good....Brandon and his wife were at my house because he wanted me to talk to his wife about how it was that I managed my life in spite of being raised by an alcoholic abusive father....he knew I would talk to her about Jesus...and I did. I remember my son being optimistic about me helping out...how many kids do you know who are married who would ask for your help in giving advice to the spouse? When they left our house that day....I always say I love you....call me when you get home so I will know you all arrived safely....and this time he actually called me....most times I would end up calling them. The morning of the night he passed....was a very upbeat and happy conversation...although, he did say he thought he had chosen the wrong career......he called at 10:10 and we all talked to him for about 17 minutes....and then before midnight....the dream became a nightmare....I will never be whole until I get to Heaven where part of my heart resides.....keep those happy thoughts forever...love, dale, brandon\'s mom

Sandi, I was so happy and content on September 3, 2009. I dropped Ed off at work as I always did on Thursday. We had some laughs and companionable conversation during the half hour ride. When he got out of the car I said, \"have a good day\". He said, \"you too, love you.\" I said, \"love you too\" Those were the last words I said to my son. He was dead the next day, Setember 4,2009. How I wish time froze at September 3rd....I am Ok much of the time now (info for new moms), still have some meltdowns. I laugh & have fun but I am changed forever. Peaceful much of the time now and for that I am grateful to God...Love & hugs, Linda

I was so happy sharing a heartfelt lunch with my son in June just weeks before his death. We spoke in a way that we had not been able to in years, tears, laughter, he opened my car door to help me get in and held my hand walking into and out of the restaurant. I was filled with so much HOPE on that day and don\'t even remember driving home because I think my car was flying. When I did walk in there was a message from Doug on our home phone telling me what it meant to share that time with me... I believe it was a gift of consolation and peace that was given to us both.. What I wouldn\'t give for that again in my life... deepest of sighs... Yet, it is a treasure I hold in my mother\'s heart always because it was our time as mother and son.

My last night with Max was a truly happy one. His Dad and I had dinner outside while listening to the Phillies baseball game on the radio. I made sausage sandwich\'s (a fav of Max\'s) and it was such a lovely night. Around 9:30 I passed Max in the kitchen. He was getting ready to go to a friend\'s house. As I passed, I turned around, came back and gave him a bear hug. I said my usual \"Be safe\" as I turned, something prompted me to face him again and say \"Be smart\". He smiled, hugged me back and said \"I\'ll be safe.\" And he is.

I guess happiness is relative these days. I am not unhappy but not whole, either - I still struggle everyday with the nagging questions of different hospital. different treatment option - there were choices, different doctor....because how could the outcome have been any worse?

Two weeks before David was diagnosed, he came home from school for the weekend for my birthday. My husband, David and my younger son all took me out for dinner....fabulous Vietnamese food.....that was a happy night and I think my last positive memory as that whole person I once was..

The happiness I had with Vanessa far surpasses any happiness I\'ve had before or since her death in 2008. Simply being together, she resonated such a powerful positive fibration that filled me with great well-being and happiness!! Her laugh could change the mood of an entire room to sheer joy...her smile could warm the hardest heart!

I did not see her the day she died and I will always regret that...that alone should have alerted me that something was wrong...something unimaginably wrong had happened and I found out what it was when I found her, the car, the police, the ambulance by the side of the road not far from my house. Bitter memories that I try to balance with the happy memories she gave me.

Jan 2, 2007 Kala bounced downstairs, threw her purse over her shoulder and headed for the door. I asked where she was going and she said, \"just gonna hang out with some friends\"....\"OK\", I said, \"Have fun, be careful, I love you\"....\"I will\", she said, \"I love you too\".... She never made it home that night....

I had a good life and was happy. Tragedy knocked on my door at 1am and knocked me to my knees. Today, though I miss Kala with all that is in me, I recognize I still have a good life, and I am finding it is also filled with happiness. It\'s different, but it IS happy. It\'s sad and happy all rolled up into one. That night, almost 5 years ago was not the last time I was happy...I\'m thankful for that truth.

I wish you peace and send much love to you sweet Sandi~~Teri.
