Well, I didn’t think I would see it in my lifetime but I have – Australia has its first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, as from 12.30pm today. This has all happened within 24 hours.

Afraid I don\'t know much about Australian politics; but it sounds like y\'all are progressive if you can elect a woman! I hope Ms. Gillard turns out to be one of the best leaders your country has ever had!

As much as having a women PM is a first and everyone is so excited... I am alittle disappointed in the manner in which it was done. Little bit a= of backstabbing to get to the top, and her policies are the same as Mr Rudds anyway??

Emidora and Rebel,
I agree with you about the way it was done but that is the way politics works. I just hope it is a good move for our country.
