Tomorrow
Here I am rambling again!
Tomorrow I will turn 70. I can't believe that I have reached this age!!! I really don't mind getting old. I just don't like the aches and pains that accompany the aging process.
My birthdays make me sad. Lisa always remembered and made sure that everyone else remembered. Joe is not a party person so we will celebrate by going to a play in the afternoon and to a seafood restaurant after.
My friend Lorraine is coming with us tomorrow. She has had a stressful week. Her dad's memory has deteriorated. She has been concerned for a while because he has signs of fairly significant dementia. On Wednesday, she got a call from her mother. Her dad became angry and attacked her mom. When Lorraine got there, she called the police and EMS. Her dad was very angry with her - said that all she wanted was his money. She is a very strong person. She didn't get angry but 'put her health care hat on' and talked to the EMS and police as a professional. They took both her mom and dad to the Emergency Department (her mom's blood pressure was very high). Her mom was discharged and her dad was sent to a unit to be assessed. In the meantime, they have found a seniors' facility where her mom will live, and if her dad gets stabilized, he will go there too.
Cevyn called again. She is realizing that we really do care about her and love her unconditionally. She is working like mad and learning to manage money (a little late but better late than never). She starts school on Tuesday. I hope all goes well.
She is still planning to move to Alberta in the spring. I would be over the moon.
Enough rambling. I am so thankful that I can come here and say what I am thinking and how I feel.
Lisa: Birthdays are so sad without you. I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

Happy, happy birthday dear friend! A very dear friend stated unequivocally that growing old \"ain\'t for sissies!\" and I couldn\'t agree more. Damn aches and pains!
I know what you mean about the day making you sad. As much as Chase tries, Jason truly and honestly showed me how special my birthday was to him. I miss him too.
I am so glad you will be going out, anyway, and my heart goes out to your friend Lorraine. The journey she is on is one we never want to travel and yet, with your compassionate ear, she will have a true friend to companion the journey.
I am sending you a great big birthday hug. Hope your day is filled with sunshine. Saw a picture of the snow in Edmonton... sort of close to you.
Love you
Merrilee
Happy Birthday, Beautiful!! I will turn 69, on the 18th. Hard for me to realize that I am this old , lol
Happy Birthday, Marlene! I know that your precious Lisa wishes you the same!
Love,
Donna
Happy Birthday to you! My mom was 71 years old when she told me that growing old is not for sissies. It seems a lot of us go through the aches and the pains of growing older! Many, many happy more birthdays ahead to you! XOX, Debbie
Happy belated birthday. To me birthday is just another day of the week. One year for my daughters birthday I bought ME a dress. I carried her for 9 months gave birth raised her etc... I deserved something. It is all in the attitude we are not getting older we are getting wiser. So each year think of you as getting wiser, it is better that way LOL
Tight birthday hugs
Penny
Happy birthday beautiful woman!! I hope you SEE the gift Lisa sends, as I know for sure there will be one!! Eyes wide open!!
My heart goes out to your friend. Having dealt with my moms dementia, I know a little about the struggle. It\'s such a cruel disease, stealing our loves ones from us moment by moment right before our eyes~ I hope all works out with the facility and they will be well cared for and loved. And I hope your friend can REST in the knowledge that she has done everything possible and that she holds no guilt for anything she wasn\'t able to do.
Can\'t wait to see you in Florida!
Sending you happy birthday wishes. I hope your day unfolds in a beautiful way. XOXO Debbie
Happy Birthday Marlene. My birthday was yesterday, I turned 67. I knew there was a reason I liked you so much, we were born under the same sign and are close in age. Only my husband remembered my birthday, but that\'s fine. When it dawns on Jim he forgot I\'ll get a flowers and apologies and probably taken out to dinner. Guilt is a fun thing sometimes.
Happy Birthday Beautiful!!
Happy Birthday dear friend. A play and a seafood restaurant sounds great. That\'s how I like to spend special days too. I\'m not much of a party person either. Enjoy the day as much as you can knowing that Lisa is by your side.
I\'m sorry about your friend Lorraine\'s parents. It\'s really sad to watch dementia setting into one\'s parents. My mom is the same. She\'s not retaining information and keeps saying the same things and asking the same questions over and over. I wish I lived closer to them. They live in a senior residence in Albuquerque, NM. I try to visit them when I can. sigh...
I\'m so happy for you about Cevyn! It sounds like she\'s really maturing, working and going to school and knowing that you both love her so very much and unconditionally.
Marlene, take care, relax and breathe fully into your special day!
Love and tight hugs,
Diane
Happy Birthday to YOU today. This IS your day and may you know the gift that YOU are.
Loving care and singing to you right now!
Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
Happy, happy 70th. I hope you see a blessing with every blink...
I totally understand how certain days now make us sad cause we can\'t celebrate them with our children. I can just imagine how your Lisa made you feel like a queen. Hoping with all my heart that tomorrow you feel as special as Lisa made you feel.
I\'m so hoping that Cevyn moves to Alberta. I want you to be over the moon. :)
Love you lady!
Happy Birthday!!! There is no way you can be 70!!!! Cevyn moving to Alberta would be wonderful.
Thank you all for your kind words. It helps to get through another milestone. I had a lovely day at the theatre and then a yummy dinner of steak and lobster - very decadent. Lorraine asked if there were any specials for birthdays - we each got a glass of prosecco (my favorite fizzy wine). I felt quite special. We walked home in the rain and are now sitting in front of the fire feeling quite cozy.
