Green Smiley Monday
i am so excited - Cevyn comes on Wednesday! And then I am going to get hugs on Thursday in Tahoe!!!
I visited Doris today. She was in a bit of a complaining mood - it is hard for her to live in a communal environment - she and her husband were a team and did everything together. He doted on her. So she has a lot of complaints about the other residents and some staff. The sad part is that she is mostly right. So we had lunch at the home and then went for iced coffee at Starbucks.
It sounds like a bit of a downer. But we talked about her husband and she reminisced about the good times. We decided that we would see our loved ones one day. We also had a laugh which was really fun. I spent more time with her than usual - I wanted to leave her on a positive note.
The thing that really made me smile was our discussion about the positives in life. She has no regrets - in that she and her husband had a good life. We talked about my travels and commiserated about the fact that it is not where one goes but it is more about appreciating what we have and who we have to share it with. It reminded me that I have had a better life than I could ever have imagined. It is not just the travel (I enjoy our walks around Calgary almost as much as the exotic places I have been). I know my visits make a difference in Doris's life, but she has made a difference in mine. She reminds me of how blessed I am.
And on top of it all, I have SOTH, many who will be in Tahoe. I really am a lucky woman.
I wish everyone could be in Tahoe!
Lisa: You know I miss you as much as ever. I am looking forward to spending a couple of weeks with your beautiful daughter. I wish so much that you could be here in person. But one day we will be together again. I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

I love the way you give to others, and then feel good about yourself. There\'s a lot to learn, hoping Tahoe will help to lift our spirits. Still haven\'t started packing, must do laundry first. Wish I could travel in my caftan. Wearing a bra, and underwear for a whole day of travel, oi vey!

Appreciating what we have, what we\'re capable of, of just BEing.....is such a gift, and truly life is SO much better when we take the time to truly see our many, many gifts.

It\'s always nice to spend some bonding with a good friend. It sounds like the whole visit was healing for both of you.

Doris is one lucky lady and you enjoy the visits, as well. That is a win win situation. I leave tomorrow, to drive to my cousin\'s house in Haughton, La. Thursday, I drive into Little Elm, Texas, to my stepdaughters house. Friday, she takes me to the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport. Reno, here I come !!
