Woo Hoo

The site seems to be working now!  I am starting to feel connected.
An update;
Calgary is recovering from the flood.  It has been horrendous for those who have lost their homes but the community has been phenomenal helping out.  I feel somewhat guilty for not going to help but ripping down drywall and shoveling mud is for the young, I think.  We did donate money.  High River, a community South of us was harder hit.  They have only just begun to get in to see the damages.  I think a lot of dream homes are mud holes now.  I have never figured out why people would want to live in a place called "High River".  It got that name for a reason.  It is not uncommon for them to have flooding, though nothing this extensive.
Lorraine finally has a definitive diagnosis.  She had a nuclear scan and the results are what we call her good bad news.  She does have lung cancer and will need surgery to remove some of her lung.  The good news part is that it isn't metastases from her liver.  The surgeon was fearful that it might be.
We celebrated Canada Day on Monday.  Our friends live in a condo that overlooks our Centre Street Bridge.  That is where the city has their fireworks display.  We met with friends and had a blast!  I asked if I could take Lorraine and of course the answer was yes.  The fireworks were fantastic - the colours were stunning.  Lorraine needed a night out and seemed to enjoy herself.
So all in all it has been an okay week.
Wishing y'all a Happy 4th of July!!!

Well confined to the lung and no metastases is good news for Lorraine. Sounds like there could be a reasonable prognosis so fingers crossed. Glad your week has been okay ~ Joanna x

So sorry to hear about the flooding in Calgary. It\'s people like you who do what they can, that helps a community get back on its feet. What a kind & caring person you are.

Hope the best for Lorraine. I\'m sure she is so thankful to have you by her side during this time. As we know, when going through a difficult time, it means so much to not be alone.

It sounds like so much fun to watch fireworks with good friends! Glad you had a good time. I\'m sure Lorraine appreciated being included, that was so sweet of you.

Take care dear friend....hugs....Vicki

i am glad your week was okay. Lovely Lorraine, and all, it\'s so hard to see our friends declining, my good friend, Joan, is simply not herself lately. She\'s bi-polar and refuses western meds, and as her hearing is perilous, paranoia isn\'t far behind. Love you, Abby, and I agree with not living at High Water.

I hope it will encourage you... My sister in law Lori was diagnosed with lung cancer and had to have part of her lungs removed... I was really afraid for her... and she definitely has to rest more now... she keeps a stool in the kitchen for when she wants to cook or do the dishes she can rest a bit as needed... but she is alive... she is still thankfully able to enjoy her daughter and granddaughter and is anticipating the newest grandchild... I was so scared when I heard she had lung cancer... but she\'s doing really well... I am definitely keeping your Lorraine in my prayers that she will be similarly blessed. Hugs Elissa

Caner diagnosis always throws us for a loop but it was such good news not have the liver involved. Keep us posted on this.

Wow, yea, I don\'t know what they did but pages are loading faster now here at DS. Like you, I was beginning to feel disconnected and also discouraged that I could not stay in touch with what little time I have from work to get online! Dag, I guess the rain is everywhere! My sister\'s town in Pennsylvania flooded badly. I will remember Lorraine in my prayers.

I\'m glad your friend doesn\'t have liver metastasis. I hope the surgery will slow down the lung cancer. Also glad that Calgary is recovering, too. I don\'t think \"High River\" sounds very encouraging as far as being a dry area to live in!
I, too, am so relieved the DS site is back to normal...finally! Love, Donna
