Friends

Smokey was the love of my life and my best best friend ever in this world who died Nov.15, 2009.
Don was my older brother and my best friends who died Sept. 1, 2014.
I miss my best friends.  Its hard to make new friends at the age of 59.  I have 3 long time girl friends.  One lives in Osoyoos which is a long way aways in BC.  Another lives in Aldergrove which is about 50-100 miles away.  One lives in Richmond, where I live, but works so much and is moving to White Rock.  I get to see her if I am lucky every other week,
Don and I hung out together, chatted on the phone, prayed together, vented together, broke bread together, laughed/cried together and enjoyed being friends as well as siblings.  I miss him so much.  My heart till hurts from his passing last year.
Its hard trying to find a friend who could be that close to me like my older brother.  I think its virtually impossible.
Dave is my friend.  We hang out together every day unless I am babysitting.  Its not the same but its okay.
I miss my brother Don so very much.  My heart aches, hurts and is in pain still and its been six months.  That kind of closeness is rare and cannot be replaced ever.
I feel like I am all alone.  I have a brother living on Vancouver Island but him and his wife are dealing with her mom's cancer issues.  My sister-in-law's name is Sheri.  Sheri's mom is Sandy who lost her husband Burt the same day I lost Don on Sept. 1, 2014.  We were going thru difficult times at the same time.  Now Sheri has to deal with her mom's ovarian cancer and its does not look good.
I still feel like I am all alone.  I have my daughter living in Surrey/White Rock border and I babysit my grandkids as often as I can.  They light up my life.  My daughter will be going back to work at the end of March.  She is on maternity leave at the moment.  My granddaughter is 9 months old.
I feel all alone.  That feeling has stuck with me for the last few weeks.  Things change and we have to adapt.  Life goes on and still our hearts ache for what we lost and can never hold again.
Life changes are hard.

I understand this completely. I actually was given a sign by God that I would be alone. At the time I had my father, husband, stepdaughter, son-in-law and grandkids. Now, my husband and son-in-law are both gone. My dad barely speaks to me. And I rarely see my grandkids because my step-daughter has to be the sole breadwinner and is super tired after working five days a week and raising two kids by herself.

Life throws us curves.
