I knew that this wasn't going to be an easy goal at all right now, but it has proved to be even more difficult than I thought. I did take the step and called her today. Small talk only, but it is a step. She is changing and working on some things and I am proud of her for that... but it isn't easy to just go back to the way things were before. I consider this to be progress though. I hope at least.
