Update
Had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Bob's been in a lot of pain, especially in his neck. The doctor thinks it's nerve pain, caused by the tumor in the spine. With this last few days of pain he has increased his morphine from about 60-90mg every 8 hours to up to 210 mg every 8 hours, with not a lot of relief. The next step is a pca pump. He'll have a PICC line inserted today, and be hooked up with the pump. I hope all goes well, and that this can provide some relief for him. Because he will have the pump, he will need a nurse visit weekly, and so will be hooked up with Hospice for home care later this week. Bob's also looking forward to getting a hospital bed so that he can make adjustments for sleeping. He hasn't been sleeping very well.
I'm trying to take this all in. I know that it will be good to have better pain management, yet this is another step closer to losing him. God has provided strength for each moment, and I trust that He will continue to do so.

i am so sorry to hear about Bob\'s terrible pain, and that fear of losing him.. Hon i admire your strength and your relationship with God so much.. I know the pca pump will help, i know i am not around to much lately but i wanted to send my blessings that all the doctors are doing will releive Bob\'s pain and help you get your rest also..

I, too, am very sorry to hear that Bob is in such pain. It has to be difficult for you to see, when there is nothing you can do to help. I pray that the pump will relieve him, and give more quality of life. The hospital bed should also help make him more comfortable.
Hospice is such a wonderful organization. I used them for both of my parents, and was so pleased at the tender loving care they gave them. The support and counseling I received got me through it. When I first met with them, they told me that they weren\'t coming in to help them die...but to give them quality of life....and they definitely did that!
Please know that you and Bob are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that our awesome God will give you the strength you need, Hon. With God, all things are possible.

I am so sorry that you and your love, Bob, have to walk this road....but, you are walking it together. You are there for him and hospice is going to help give Bob pain relief, and you the support you need to give Bob the best care he needs. Without pain, Bob will be able to enjoy seeing family and friends and most of all, you will both be able to have relaxed, peaceful time to share. My heart understands how difficult this is for you dear Karen. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

My friend Karen, I am so sorry to hear this lastest news. Hospice helped care for my brother and they were wonderful. I will pray that God gives you the strength and courage to get thru this journey. His is what keeps me going also. I can\'t give you a hug in person but I can promise to pray that you will be able to get thru this horrible time. Praying for Bob and You and the rest of the family.
