I just realized that I probably shouldn't take supplements like coQ10 on my period b/c, like salad, I don't seem to be digesting it. except salad makes me bloated and burpy, this just feels like a heavy, hernia type thing. Anyone know anything about this stuff? I was turned on to it interestingly enough by Suzanne Somers when she was on Larry King. It increases stomach acid which many people (especially those over 50) are often lacking. There are a host of health issues one can experience as a result of low stomach acids. It is said that often things like heartburn are mistreated as people think they are caused by excessive stomach acid when the opposite is true. I purchased some of theses but have not been taking them regularly nor in the doses suggested as I am concerned about burning the stomach lining (this is a warning I have read about). So peeps what have you heard? What have been your experiences?Update: I have been doing some subsequent research on this and posting some interesting information in the comments to this post. I have been having good results associated with the initial introduction of this supplement with meals. I also fall into multiple categories of people that may have low stomach acid. Anyway I just wanted to share what I am finding. I will report back later on how I am doing with this supplement. march17despite my efforts to be healthy, I was set back by the very thing I thought would help: mexican food. yes, it is good b/c the rice is an excellent starch to replace bread, beans contain fiber and minerals and vitamins, and guacamole contains good fat. However, I ate the mexican food for one or two meals a day lately and experienced a bad side effect. Hypertension! I'm only 24 but my reading at the mall was this: 133, 104 and 61. That meant prehypertension, max hypertension. It was all the salt! Thank goodness for that little machine. I wondered why I wasn't feeling well despite my efforts. I immediately went home and drank lots of water to flush it out, orange juice to replace the potassium and calcium, and hope to continue with that this week. alas, mexican will have to be cut back even smaller, perhaps to every other day if that, and best made at home to prevent over salting. But it makes sense! I have complained of tightness in my chest and pain this past year and suspected, but did not have the right test. Wonderful. Well, I hope when I go back to the mall to check it will be down. For now it is hello bananas and oranges. calcium sources are spinache, kale, juice, yogurt, romaine, brocoli, basil, fennel, green beans, garlic, tofu, asparagus.march 15wow. i think i felt so good several weeks ago b/c of the betaine hcl. i can't wait to leave in five minutes and go home and start taking it regularly!!!want to keep trackof how i react to supplements. had b/m yesterday morning, wanted to have one this morning so took the 3 msm trick. it worked within 15 minutes. also took it with lots of water. wondered if i shouldhave taken it before or following. on drive to work side effect was swelling in my throat, like gagging or burping. hopefully not gas as that is what i was trying ot avoid, the feeling of air or water gurgling around, b/c i did drink a lot of water. perhaps two msm at night and two in morning i think i remember did the trick. i wonder howthis differs from magnesium, which seems to always work but i fear i take too much of. definitely have the gurgling in my stomahc now. monday i will keep track as well. I also don't want to upset my intestine and cause a dependency. not needing coffee. going to wait to ingest anything else for several hours so the msm can be processed. period supposed to start sunday. back pain yesterday afternnon and starting up again today. can't stop getting on net to read about msm dosing. most is saying, start slow daily. oops. don't knowif it is that or what ubt having trouble concentrating on work. but, no allergies or flem at all and back pain not getting worse and very awake. almost racing thoughts, unusual way to work. net says 20 grams per k body weight can kill you so i am no where near. feeling confident with what i read after all. so good, perhaps i can even fast today. probably fruit with vitamin c would be best. and yogurt. 10am. even did some chair pushups. throat swell is back. uh oh. even a bit nauseous. what to do? many said, take it with vit c. so the fruit. it is 10 after all. and water to help flush and absorb? ate one little cutie happily (mini orange. going to get fruit maybe banana pineapple orange at lunch and marvel at how it costs the same as fast food but does not make me sick. goal achieved. next goal, next week, consume even more fruit. overall, high vit c . do not take at night! just had a very difficult customer. i think the predictedheadache may be starting. just ate some pineapple in a plastic container. a bit of stomache pain. it does have ascorbic acid (vit c?) and citric acid. for lunch walked mall, had popcorn. 1:45. had chocolate bar. needed to relax or something. mild headache still. swelled throat a bit still. maybe even my lymphs. a little gassy. hungry again. chromium? aloe? food?looked it up on line, gnawing feeling is an ulcer. Lisa Gatto predicted I had a "crack" in my stomache after looking at my tongue. online there are lots of people with this. one says a cup of hot tea with honey help. I'm taking my aloe vera. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have to keep an eye on your stomach symptoms when taking stomach acid. I guess you know this. Because many people have digestive troubles because their body doesn\'t have enough digestive enzymes. I would do those first to see how much improvement your digestion gets, then add the stomach acid. But try to find and enzyme supplement that doesn\'t have the stomach acid in them. I think Twin Labs has one.
Too much stomach acid can cause an ulcer. I was told by my doctor if I wanted to try it that you take a dose and increase it until you feel a little stomach disturbance and then back the dose off a little. Then you know your dose.
