march17despite my efforts to be healthy, I was set back by the very thing I thought would help: mexican food. yes, it is good b/c the rice is an excellent starch to replace bread, beans contain fiber and minerals and vitamins, and guacamole contains good fat. However, I ate the mexican food for one or two meals a day lately and experienced a bad side effect. Hypertension! I'm only 24 but my reading at the mall was this: 133, 104 and 61. That meant prehypertension, max hypertension. It was all the salt! Thank goodness for that little machine. I wondered why I wasn't feeling well despite my efforts. I immediately went home and drank lots of water to flush it out, orange juice to replace the potassium and calcium, and hope to continue with that this week. alas, mexican will have to be cut back even smaller, perhaps to every other day if that, and best made at home to prevent over salting. But it makes sense! I have complained of tightness in my chest and pain this past year and suspected, but did not have the right test. Wonderful. Well, I hope when I go back to the mall to check it will be down. For now it is hello bananas and oranges. calcium sources are spinache, kale, juice, yogurt, romaine, brocoli, basil, fennel, green beans, garlic, tofu, asparagus.march 15wow. i think i felt so good several weeks ago b/c of the betaine hcl. i can't wait to leave in five minutes and go home and start taking it regularly!!!want to keep trackof how i react to supplements. had b/m yesterday morning, wanted to have one this morning so took the 3 msm trick. it worked within 15 minutes. also took it with lots of water. wondered if i shouldhave taken it before or following. on drive to work side effect was swelling in my throat, like gagging or burping. hopefully not gas as that is what i was trying ot avoid, the feeling of air or water gurgling around, b/c i did drink a lot of water. perhaps two msm at night and two in morning i think i remember did the trick. i wonder howthis differs from magnesium, which seems to always work but i fear i take too much of. definitely have the gurgling in my stomahc now. monday i will keep track as well. I also don't want to upset my intestine and cause a dependency. not needing coffee. going to wait to ingest anything else for several hours so the msm can be processed. period supposed to start sunday. back pain yesterday afternnon and starting up again today. can't stop getting on net to read about msm dosing. most is saying, start slow daily. oops. don't knowif it is that or what ubt having trouble concentrating on work. but, no allergies or flem at all and back pain not getting worse and very awake. almost racing thoughts, unusual way to work. net says 20 grams per k body weight can kill you so i am no where near. feeling confident with what i read after all. so good, perhaps i can even fast today. probably fruit with vitamin c would be best. and yogurt. 10am. even did some chair pushups. throat swell is back. uh oh. even a bit nauseous. what to do? many said, take it with vit c. so the fruit. it is 10 after all. and water to help flush and absorb? ate one little cutie happily (mini orange. going to get fruit maybe banana pineapple orange at lunch and marvel at how it costs the same as fast food but does not make me sick. goal achieved. next goal, next week, consume even more fruit. overall, high vit c . do not take at night! just had a very difficult customer. i think the predictedheadache may be starting. just ate some pineapple in a plastic container. a bit of stomache pain. it does have ascorbic acid (vit c?) and citric acid. for lunch walked mall, had popcorn. 1:45. had chocolate bar. needed to relax or something. mild headache still. swelled throat a bit still. maybe even my lymphs. a little gassy. hungry again. chromium? aloe? food?looked it up on line, gnawing feeling is an ulcer. Lisa Gatto predicted I had a "crack" in my stomache after looking at my tongue. online there are lots of people with this. one says a cup of hot tea with honey help. I'm taking my aloe vera. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------As someone else stated... have your doctor check for diabetes. This is the main symptom that I experience even on medication. The only time the hunger subsides is when I add lots of oatmeal or brown rice to my diet. This is primarily in reference to Trooper's initial post, not necessarily to some of those that followed with symptoms of throwing up, etc.As someone mentioned, this is a symptom of diabetes so you should consider having that checked. However, depending on what other possible symptoms you have, because it is so very common, I'd recommend you first look into Hypochlorhydria (the underproduction of hydrochloric acid by the stomach) or possibly even achlorhydria (the complete absence of stomach acid).Hypochlorhydria is frequently misdiagnosed because the symptoms are identical to excess stomach acid. Studies actually show that 90% of those that think they have excessive stomach acid actually have insufficient amounts. It would make perfect sense that Prilosec didn't work as Prilosec decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. If anything it could have made the symptoms worse.I have found that I am sensitive to a few certain drinks or food that even when taking Protonix daily will cause my symptoms to return, coffee, pop, wine and salad dressings. The strange thing is that the adverse effect these items cause never are immediate but always set in about 12 hours afterwards, coffee in the morning and then in the evening I'll get gnawing hunger and nausea.I had the "exact" same symptoms. I had an upper GI, which discovered I have gastric reflux. I also had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and discovered I have a Hiatal herna. I've been perscribed Prevacid. It has helped tremendously!!! I'd suggest having the light put down your throat to see if that is what you have I found a betaine HCl supplement that increases stomach acidity, and although I felt I digested my food better and I got more energy from it, it wasn't long before this tore my stomach up. used to suffer from severe hunger pangs, and the worst triggers were apples, tomatoes i'm a painter and i get these growly pangs whenever i'm paintingi've associated them with toxic fumeseating helps i think to dilute the toxinsThat makes sense, Kiera. Insulin has a lot to do with it somehow. Before the age of 30 I had hypoglycemia. My body was always producing insulin. Strange thing, though I couldn't gain a pound to save my life. I was told then when I reach middle age it will do a 360. Now it's a lot easier for me to gain weight and my body still turns out a lot of insulin. (But I do eat more sweets now than I ever did then). had these terrible hunger pains, and like the rest of you I thought it was due to acid reflux. I have had awful intestinal problems and that was leading me in the wrong direction. Because of my weight gain I decided to look into atkins. Turns out I have elevated levels of c-peptide. Meaning I have to much insulin in my body. This is a pre diabetes stage, and lucky for me I have been able to turn it with my diet. Patients with insulin resistance have problems with their glucose metabolism. Normally, after eating a meal, the resulting glucose-from-food is dispersed by the pancreatic hormone insulin to the cells for use as energy. But in patients with insulin resistance, the cells become insensitive to insulin, and are therefore unable to 'accept' their usual amount. As a result, the pancreas either becomes exhausted trying to produce extra insulin, (leading to diabetes) or else the body suffers from excessively high levels of insulin (leading to obesity, and increased risk of heart disease). Both leading to HUNGER!When eating a low carb meal your body is only given a low amount of good carbohydrates that your body is able to react to. This in combination with eating high protein fills your stomach and you will no longer feel the horrible hunger pains.Read about insuline resistance on the net and if you can get a cheap copy of the atkins book just so you can have it explained in a simple way. Also... this is a great article. Insulin makes you hungry and fat...http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...-part-one.aspx got up and did yoga, yay. still slept in a bit, prolly woke up I don't know 5, set alarm for 5:30. while everyone was eating bagels i ate a big bag of strawberries. at 10-11 i ate a lara cherry pie bar fruit and nuts. at lunch i had a soy latte tea from starbucks. my first time trying it not good. just had two waters. a bit of strong coffee and the tea has me a alert, maybe too much. i had a headache most of the morning. maybe overdid my yoga head rotations. plus the march weather is overcast and that does it. just took three tylonol hope that helps. colonic tonight. trying to eat all raw. trying to have some laxative tea or prunes so I don't have the usual blockage. another bad dream when i fell back to sleep.
