It's been a while. . .

My hubby and I have had some nice trips over the last 18 months. Once covid19 restrictions eased we started traveling again with our friends and with each other.  We just got back from a weekend trip to San Diego.

My hubby has decided to retire early and we are moving out of California. We had a lot of equity in our last home and sold it for a lot. We are now in the process of moving to Nevada. I will still continue to work and I am interviewing for a new position this week.  We are in a tiny apartment with most of our stuff in storage until everything gets sorted.  We are not eager to leave our friends but eager to get ourselves out of this expensive state and into our forever home.

My health has been pretty bad over the last 18+ months. On our wedding anniversary in July of 2020 I fell while hiking. As I was falling my foot caught and it bent backwards. Then the weight of my body fell on top of it. The sprain was very bad and it took a long time to recover. In 2021, about six months after I hurt my foot, I began having severe back pain and piriformus pain, and I was in pain almost constantly. When I finally made myself go to the chiropractor, he told me that I had been avoiding putting my weight on my hurt foot (because it still hurt a lot) and as a result put extra pressure on the other side of my body to compensate. I had been crooked for so long that damage was being done to my one side.

I began making a conscious effort to make sure that I stood and walked with equal footing. I also started going regularly for adjustments. That helped with the back pain a lot. My hips did not improve and in fact got worse with bursitis adding to my piriformus pain. It got so bad I had to stop hiking. Then it continued to be bad that I had to stop taking walks after work. I saw a sports medicine doctor and he advised me to try yoga which I did up until a heavy yoga session sent me into a bad fibromyalgia pain flare for a week. Now, I can't do anything sports related.

I still walk at my current work site, but can't do much more than that. I have had a lot of bad fibromyalgia flares over the last month. I feel so helpless. I never thought my life would be so restricted at 47. I have gained back some of the weight I lost and I am still working on that. Got to get back to where I was in 2020 when things were better healthwise.
