Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.

quick run back. nearly 6 months ago i caught my BF with his ex. according to both of them they didnt have sex, but still, it was an emotional connection he lied to me about and reacted badly when i found out saying he was the only friend she had and that she was there for him. I really cared about this man, and he begged for a second chance. i have kinda given him one. we spend time together. he has changed his number and no longer talks to her, in spite of her tries. she has even stolen money from him since she knows all his information on his accounts. she tries to contact me, saying that she needs him to file her taxes. all the while messaging him telling him to enjoy the path that she led him too and that it saddens her heart that he would choose to have such insecure and disgusting people in his life over her. he still wont contact her, says its how she gets in, that she is just trying to get in again. since the incident in october, there have been no other incidents. He focuses on school, and spends time with me.
ive been stuck in the middle. because of my past, because of having been over run by narc trains... it has turned my heart cold. i dont want to be cold. i dont know how to let go of the anger. its hard for me to believe that people make mistakes sometimes. i have been very angry. and he has endured me crying. yelling, and acting crazy. he admits to his mistakes... says he was stupid and he dont even know how he started talking to her again... that he likes helping people and she presented herself as having had differences in the past but needing help now, and that she really cared for him as a friend, and that I was controlling him by not liking her and was going to hurt him. so he didnt tell me. and it turned into a bigger lie. he says he hates what happened. before this happened, we really did seem to have something special. i was generally happy. had goals in mind. saw him so differently. we had a talk the other day. he says we should have a label as just friends. he says he knows what he did, and he takes full ownership and responsibility for my feelings... but that he knows when i look at him all i see is the lie he told me. he says he is stupid and gullible... but he sees there is nothing he can do to help me past it, or help me feel better about it, because it was a horrible thing for him to do, and he didnt think of consequences. he says he doesnt want it to be like this, but that he sees my pain and knows i will continue in the cycle cause of PTSD from before, and needs to take the pressure off me.
im slightly torn right now. its true what he says. when i look at him i see the lie. i become angry. i want to tear him apart. then sometimes i look at him and i miss him. and i see the light in him i once saw... but then it becomes clouded again by anger. so tired of anger.
i dont know how to let this go so i can make a decision. it binds and bonds me. i need to be free again.
the anger keeps me. when he lied i had taken a risk with him.... and it brought up ALL the anger and resentment of my past. my full steel walls are up, my heart is cold, my emotions are numb. it makes me wonder because i thought i was over this part. even in a healthy relationship, people argue. they fight. and people do make mistakes. now what do i do? How do i defeat this in me? ive read books on letting go... gone to counseling, and none of it seems to work. i just want to be stable. calm. happy. enjoy life.
i will only be able to make a decision on him and move on to the next step in my life, if i can let go of this.
my head is not clear. i cannot make a rational decision with this anger and resentment. i seem to have this for all man in some way, that leaves me nearly unable of compromise or understanding. in a way, because of what they have done to me, i have become like them in relationships with out the deceiving. cold. unaffectionate. ready to fight if i have to. always looking for the "wrong" to happen.
even in a healthy relationship i cant be healthy like this. and he is right. he says he wants the just friends label to re learn each other... learn to respect each other again.... i havent been the best to him these past months. but i couldnt stop myself. just so angry.
any thoughts much appreciated... fighting with myself.

It sounds like you don't feel safe, and it might be a good idea to trust that instinct until you can identify where that feeling is coming from. The "just friends" idea might be worthwhile, as long as it's not just a label or an excuse for him to behave badly.
I dont feel safe... you are right. and i havent been banking on a total reconciliation... but im having trouble with my own personal self and my feelings on the issue. just stinks.
I'm becoming a firm believer in that if it doesn't feel good then why stay. Much love and strength to you on your decision.
it just makes me sad. cause i want the image he presented... how we were together. not like the normal from before, he never made an empty promise to me other than that stupid lie, and he made me feel special and cared for... beautiful even. i havent felt that way in a long time. and i dont need someone to tell me those things, but it was nice to feel thought of. it just causes me to recede emotionally even more.
sometimes it seems like i am just waiting for the ultimate narc to come in and sweep me off my feet.
ive known nothing but lies since the day i was born. and well... its hard to believe in someone.
I am there - fighting with myself - and know how wretched it feels. From my experience I have learned gut instincts are rarely incorrect. I keep reminding myself to be kind to myself even in the midst of my indecision. I know for me the hardest part of letting go has been to forgive myself, not necessarily the other person. In all my relationships with Ns and unavailable men, I have had to go through that valley of self- accusation and unforgiveness directed at myself. As I said, a wretched feeling. As for the friends deal, it is up to y'all to communicate the expectations and boundaries, like someone else mentioned. Stay strong
im just mentally exhausted... i feel like the fight has gone out of me. i just dont want to do this again.
But in the end, just friends or not... i deserve to be with someone who wants to be with me just as much.
you cant just put me on pause, still hold the controller, and do nothing. "just friends" to me means no boundries in an intimate relationship. he says hes not going out looking for girls, that he just needs to take a step back, that he doesnt have anyone he is dating or anyone in mind or any intention of dating... and he will still be around. we never totally got back together in the first place... but i was starting to toy with the idea, feeling i can trust him again.
i will not beg for him to work with me. i will not stand by like a puppy.
the fight has gone out of me, but so has my will to give a damn. i dont have time to wait for someone until they decide they are ready to be with me. He made the mistake in the first place.... either you grovel for forgiveness at my feet and act like a man or you leave me be. he had me once, and chose to make decisions to jeopardize that. sorry. not my fault. he doesnt get to choose anymore.
I wish i could forgive myself. i hate those negative thoughts when they take over.
Hugs and well wishes to you!
im trying to make a stand. im just exhausted. i made a stand when i left him. i was so utterly dissappointed. just like wow. this again? here i am again? really? i thought he was different.
oh well. my fault. no more leaps of faith for me... but those two small thoughts, sometimes help me take it a little easier on myself.
"...cause for some reason, we always have that stupid voice telling us that maybe we made a mistake" <-- I understand you when you say you're not sure whether the feelings are legit or not. I think we're all familiar with it.
I have had guys interested in me who want a relationship, and they're really nice guys. And I push them away. I am not sure if I'm seeing red flags or if I'm afraid of emotional intimacy.
Your friend lied to you and hid the truth. From the outside looking in, I believe you are justified in your feelings of anger and unwillingness to trust. It also sounds like you feel like some of it is baggage from your past.
For myself, I've decided not to get involved with anyone until I am well myself and can better trust what I feel. I believe I won't know until I can be happy and content on my own, and I'm making great strides towards that. I'm lonely sometimes, but I've accepted those feelings will come and go.
I want to come from a place of love and not fear. I want to let go of my own baggage and enjoy the rest of my life. I want to be at peace. I'm not there yet, but I am confident I will be. Then, and only then, will I entertain the idea of letting a man into my life.
Love to you, Dracona.

it just seems with me, every time i think i am ready... something goes wrong. and i have to accept its just going to sometimes. and hope that maybe someday it wont. even when we are healthy minded, things go wrong, just because we take all this time to heal ourselves and learn to love ourselves... does not mean that we will suddenly find the right person once we do feel strong enough. i feel like ive just wasted so much time with asses that the normal "bad apples" just sicken me. but i can say this.
when i started this site back in 07, (i think 07)... i might have stayed through the lie. believing him. hoping.
this time i left. he says he wanted me to stay and work it out, that i left at the first sign of danger. he says he understands why i did, but still wanted me to stay and now he doesnt think we can get past what he did. and maybe not. when i am hurt, i take a long time to heal, and i am angry and can be a downright bitch. mainly cause the ptsd flares up, and becomes directed towards him. i see him and i see how i felt for him, and the anger that he would jeopardize that.
there is alot inside me that i need to let go of.... and im trying. letting go was never my strong point. especially at some point in my life i started using my anger to protect me, to give me the validation i needed and craved. also, i need a calm, strong, and understanding man. whether i want to admit it or not, i have something "wrong" with me. whether its PMDD or whatever label you want to give it, i seem to go through cycles, and they do seem directly related to my period. i have tracked it, how im feeling, and sometimes im not always rational. i need someone who can understand when the flip out starts to happen, and either calmly let me know that they are there for me if i need them and leave me be to work it out, or be able to reason with the fogginess that happens in my head.. without a fight or putting me down or making me feel bad about what is happening. cause sometimes it is ridiculous. i cry. i think things are happening when they are not... im on edge. it comes. it goes. it just is and its not going away. im never blatantly mean, but i can be triggered to be if someone is trying to put me down. Best thing someone ever did for me is bring me a cigarrette look me in the eye, and tell me they loved me and were here for me, and walked out.
But i can see how im difficult to deal with, i cant expect someone to be able to just do that. but at the same time, this has gone on forever, i know its hormonal cause when i was pregnant i was stable minded. good thing cause it was a hard experience. so basically i act like a moody pregnant woman when im not pregnant around my period. HA. and when im pregnant im normal. :)
im just getting tired. and i feel like time is running out if i ever want to have another child. and i really do.
