I wish this message finds you all well. I am sitting in my new house having moved in today and reflecting on the past couple of days.
I realise that I have periods during the last months where sometimes I am totally uninterested and blind to any men around me.
And then all of a sudden, I discover 1,2,3 in my environment I do find attractive. Not that it would lead to anything yet, I am too unsecure and probably don't believe yet that a "normal" man could find me attractive.
I've almost stopped looking into online dating. Somehow the last 2 "promising" guys have all of a sudden never replied again - one after he met me for a day, the other after I've sent him photos. While this silence sucks for a couple of days, I am grateful that these individuals with such bad communication manners have left my life.
I am still in touch with someone my friend got me connected and I feel something like a friendship growing. We plan to go for holiday in August. I am not sure if he is just another bunch of trouble or someone honest. Well, I realise I don't need to be sure by now. Not sure if our life styles would harmonize. Not sure if my way of living would go in line with anyone's lifestyle. I realise that I do like this expatriat life in countries where most people would never go.
I was surprised last week when all of a sudden I found 2 colleagues in office quite nice and attractive. Well, that's something which cannot be - not in the context where I currently work. So, I wonder if there is any trigger, while I sometimes do see men I'd like and sometimes I don't.
I feel it is progress to be aware of these feelings. In the past I would have probably just acted out to attract attention and to make something work which can never work. I do feel uneasy when I realise I am attracted to someone. I blamed girl's school for this in the past, but I know it comes from much earlier in my childhood and from my own family. Now, as I am more connected with myself, is it a good sign when I feel uneasy around a man? In the past I ended up in trouble when I felt at easy with a man. I think it's not necessarily a bad sign if you feel uneasy around men.
You could feel uneasy around ALL men due to having suffered some kind of trauma at the hands of a man in the past.
The thing to tune in to is your gut feeling. If you get a bad gut feeling about a guy, then you know to stay away.
Just as a side note, I tend to not online date anymore. I know some get lucky but in general I think online dating is especially dangerous because a man can so easily lie about who he is.
