Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.
i don't think it's fair to tell them not to be friends but i do think it's fair to tell your daughter that unless there is something mom needs to know you don't want to know what's going on in his life.....
no secrets just not really interested to know. i think a 9 year old would understand that nuance.
what about visitation and play dates and such. that is another issue. you might have to re consider this.....still i think unless he was violent with you and horribly inappropriate and disrespectful and abusive you may need to suck it up a little bit (with limits) to support their friendship.....
how long have they been besties? does she consider you a mom??? she may need support........
not fun.
....i think though it's healthier and better for the kids to remain connected IF possible for you....their relationships might change over time if they aren't spending as much time together......
i wider why he hasn't told his daughter yet.... if she finds out from him she might get mad at your daughter for not telling her....oy. friendship politics i guess there's no use worrying about b/c there's nothing you can do....
like wait 24 hours before responding?? for starters...
i don't know what the right thing is. what would you want if the tables were turned?
are you able to suck it up?? i know we talked about it but are you able to in this situation???
what do you think the triggers would be for you?? what is the worst thing that can happen??
I know if I do not hear from the girls it is because he told them not to contact me. Even if there is another woman around the oldest would. After all, her daddy couldn't look at another woman much less speak to one - even if it was a friend I knew about without her telling me. It was kind of funny. The little one was very attached to me but does not have a phone.
If the tables were turned I would at least let my daughter say goodbye. l even told her she could tell him goodbye is she wanted to. She did not want to.
I will suck it up when it comes to the girls. It i the right thing to do. I don't think I will initiate contact. After all, he may not tell them until they wonder where we are.
The triggers are wanting to talk to him if I hear him in the background. I have maintained NC which is not what he wanted because he did not want to lose me as a friend (bleh). Worse that could happen is my NC is broken and I start from scratch.
I can understand what you are going through on some levels. I am still in my relationship but I think about what will happen to my son is I severe the relationship. But I wont stay for my son but I would leave quickly for him. I tell my son that we are the main course everything else is extra. Even in the relationship I am preparing him for the end of it. That's kind of sad but....
I will say it sounds like your daughter is in good hands. She can talk to you and it seems like you talk to her honestly in way she can understand. I love that for you...I have that with my son. The greatest peace that I have gained in my life in regards to parenting is this. I will make mistakes, I will hurt my son, and disappoint, at times I will be unavailable physically and emotionally. But I am living proof that there is nothing I can do as a parent that God cannot and will not heal. I am not the ultimate factor in who we will become or how he will live his life...he is.
I am not sure if those little girls will circle back into your life and this may sound harsh but I don't intend it to be....they will be okay with or without you. That is peace....that is freedom now you can choose what is best for you.
As far as your son I believe you are dong the right thing by preparing him. The end will not be such a shock for him. It sounds like you are doing great!
you may just inspire the rest of us!
