I'm so beyond angry right now. He stalked me, and attempted to murder my current boyfriend by running him over with his truck twice trying to get to me...
then he ran and hid from the police for a day...
and what do they do? release him on bail so he can finish school.
They extended the trial date.
They just extended it again, so he can graduate
His past arrests for domestic violence are thrown out because it "doesn't matter or pertain to this current charge". they don't want the jury to sentence him based on past events.
The prosecutor knows he stalked me... trespassed... was even told by roommates and friends to leave me alone. but guess what? he isn't being charged for stalking. because "stalking" is more difficult to prove. even though he did it with probable intent to harm.
He gets to fucking run someone over, probably coming after me... get out and finish his fucking school while getting it paid for by the military, and getting his GI bill stipend to attend. how the fuck is this possible?
while i'm at home, here with my boyfriend who is proving more and more to be a wonderful man in my life...
but he is so injured from this and never shows it. he can barely tie his damn shoes cause it hurts him so bad but he wont show it, he still goes to work. his xrays are screwed, you can see chips of bone from his back floating around and ribs that do not belong in that position. his hand and wrist is fractured.
how the hell does this man get to run around free???
I didnt even get this much leeway when i got a DUI in 2006. they ripped my license for 90 days for negligent driving, made me pay immediate fees, had to have a breathalizer and pay for it, then got caught driving on a suspended license trying to get to work so i could pay the stupid fees during that 90 days... and they nailed me. that was 8 years ago, my only trouble EVER with the law, and i wasnt even plastered or driving messed. i shouldnt have been driving after having 2 beers so quick, but yah.
how the hell did i get more fucked over on a DUI than he does with attempted murder and stalking with previous arrests!!!F!!!!!!!!
it doesnt matter that he might eventually "get his" and i should be patient. he might not even do much jail time if he is prosecuted,
OH... and restitution he will have to pay for the medical bills and compensation? no matter what the amount, even if its a million dollars, he has his entire life to pay it off, at a minimum 25$ a month.
so how is "justice" going to be served?

This is another way that victims of domestic violence are wounded, i think it's actually called 'secondary wounding', when we do not get justice from society. The legal system is only as good as the people that make it, and most people are just so woefully unsympathetic or ignorant when it comes to domestic abuse.
It's really messed up and I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. The legal system should not be like this. It's bs. Call them out on their crap and hold your head high x
