probably he's saying "ideally" as opposed to a checklist... what was on your list?

Honest. Someone who doesn’t take himself or life too seriously, Intelligence but not pretentiousness, someone who’s capable of being vulnerable. Expressive, good with kids. Calm but passionate about stuff he knows about. Affectionate. Good taste in music is kinda important but not a deal breaker. Fun. Funny. Likes Nature and can easily spend a weekend in the quiet by a lake with no distractions. Non-judgemental. Old fashioned, curious, grateful, inquisitive, humble. Self deprecating.

I don't know. His ideal woman doesn't seem 'real' to me.
I'm picturing a spineless whisper of a girl with transculent skin and skinny arms and no soul.

also, sorry, but if i were a guy and read your list, i might have the same reaction as you did to his! i think that's the trouble with online dating: profiles read like shopping lists. i got fed up with it for that reason. even when i tried to be honest about yourself, to me my profile read like a shopping list. on the last one, i described myself as a cranky early morning snorer looking for same. got some fun responses, anyway.

well no, you've been chatting with him -- maybe there are other things you noticed that are playing into how you read his list. tho he does say a woman likes to "receive" attention as well as give it and be taken care of... but anyway. i had one guy message me once, whose profile basically asked for superwoman with a body like a Victoria's Secret model, the IQ of a Mensa member and the sex drive of Catherine the Great, plus looked fabulous when she woke up AND was able to be one of the guys! i was like, dude, wtf? you're going to have to genetically engineer that woman, cuz she doesn't exist! he got all huffy...

He sounds scary to me. I see "take care of her man" as do what he wants her to do. I think And likes to spend quiet time with loved ones...I hear lots of home time watching TV. Another words he does'nt like to go out much. and he wants to be the bread winner as "she likes to be taken care of". I read I am the man and you will be MINE. I personally would stay away/ However, after saying that you have to know that I am in a man hating state right now, so all replies would sound negative to me. I feel like they want to own us. Maybe that feeling comes from not owning myself. Just a thought.

Great post, Miss Mom. I think both you and Tokyo have the same impression of this, that he wants someone to take care of his needs. He wants a nurturer, AKA the woman who loves too much, who strives to all things so that men will not abandon her. He wants someone who offers the world, her self-esteem is a bit shaky, he he thinks he would like to take care of her--maybe even rescue her so that he feels powerful...I could be misinterpreting, this is just my impression based upon my own experiences.

And yes, Tokyo, I so hear you (and, BTW, thank you for your lovely response on the other discussion thread, I will eventually respond in turn to you and Shani on that one) about these men wanting the world in a woman...and they usually get it. They have these big expectations, and you see them, these rock-star type of guys--stringy thin hair gaunt faces crooked teeth egotistical driven maniacal with demure models hanging off their arms awaiting the first chance to cater to their rock-star's needs. The next thing you hear is that said model is heartbroken because rock-star hung-up-on-himself boyfriend/husband strayed from the nest.
