Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.
I HAVE BEEN GONE FOR A WHILE... I NEED YOU NOW
Dracona
Im sorry for disappearing for months. I have been dealing with my own bouts of PTSD and for some reason being here in the group was hard for me for a while, also with school and being a single mom... i was stressed and I disassociated... sometimes when im stressed time passes without a sense of it passing. I hadnt realized how long it had been. and i honestly feel awful for coming back now to post about my current situation, but I have to talk to someone, and I dont know where else to turn right now.
My whole life is filled with abusers, liars, and cheaters. But it always felt normal to me. I am very good at being emotionally numb. I have been in the strangest relationship for the past two years now, and its time to talk about it, about what it really is, and what actions i need to take.
I love the man. of course i do, but i have to stop.
we first got together things were great. i was so happy. then i caught him in a lie. He didnt cheat on me, but he was lying about who he was hanging out with,(his ex) and left me at home to cook dinner while he went and took her out, then came home and ate my dinner. she posted a picture and tagged him in it, about where he took her. I left him. I gathered my shit, and i left him. I felt empowered. i was hurt, but i was strong. i was NEVER going to ever let anyone get in my way again... I had a daughter to raise and plans with my life, but i was seeing clearly. my number one rule is dont lie to me, and he crossed it. so i left, like i said i would if that line was so blatantly crossed.
then i got lonely. i missed him. he admitted his mistakes. I was VERY angry, for a long time. i told him i needed this time to be angry on my own. we were split up for almost a year. during that time i lost my resolve. i became the weak and confused woman i was before, unable to take action. it was like all my strength was lost in leaving him. he would come and go at my house when he wished, but i was not welcome at his. i just caught myself trying to make an excuse there for him... NO EXCUSES. FACTS. ok. he would come over and eat my food, i would help him with his homework, even write papers for him, even though i knew he had other people doing that for him as well. i wanted to stop, wanted to stand up, but couldnt. everytime i got a backbone to stand up to him, it was an argument. not a calm discussion, but an argument. and i would cave. every time i would try to say NO MORE, i would eventually cave. he allowed me to think that he was seeing other people through his actions. he said he didnt want a relationship right now, that he was working on himself. He wouldnt show up on time. He would eat and leave. i would give him gas money. then i find out he was telling his friends he had money to take them out, and would tell me he had none. just one friend actually, a 19 year old girl. she is alright, but i wasnt allowed to meet her til recently. i know he didnt do anything with her as she is as butch as it gets, but any friend save one i have met of his, are younger girls. he is 32, this bugged me. he said he didnt have friends because last time he did they all fucked his ex wife which led to his divorce so he doesnt talk to people anymore. one week it was all lovey dovey, then he was gone again. he would not hold my hand or kiss me in public. says he is getting over the fact that i left him. He has come leaps and bounds from where he was... but why did i let him put me through that?
towards the end of a very arduous summer, HE decided we were dating again, that i would now be called his girlfriend.
Shit hit the fan. I lost my job. I lost my child support. i lost my house. i almost ended up in a shelter with my daughter. but instead of turning away from us, he went and got us a place... took care of us.
things got better, my va disability was approved. my school is paid for through my masters degree, and i dont have to work now, i dont make alot, but just enough to get by. i can finally spend the time with my daughter i had spent away from her trying to work and go to school to make a better life for us.
I have PTSD. i know its not easy to live with. i know i can be irrational. I "react" to subtle cues and body language. i need calmness. i need someone who can stay calm and just talk to me, and i will shortly come down to my normal self. but even at my worst, i do not hit anyone, and i do not say horrible things i dont mean.
im not the best housekeeper, but im not disgusting. i get busy and overwhelmed and i forget that it has been a week since i really cleaned the house. it gets cluttered. instead of him picking up the slack, he complains.
my mother is a huge trigger for me, he now refuses to interact with her. ive always been honest about myself with him, about the PTSD and how im trying to cope with it. im seeing two couselors now, one for talking, one for behavior therapy. i dont want to be this way, im fighting to be better.
i know he is stressed out too, he is in ROTC at 32 years old, and school. he has a son, but his mom has custody in new york, while he does his stuff. shit. i was a single mom, who worked nights, and went to college, and had custody of my daughter. now i dont work, but college is still a full time job. and quite often asks me to "help" him with his homework. writing papers, doing power points for him. and i do so at the expense of my own, i tell him so, but he figures im smart enough and quick enough to get my stuff done. then complains about the house one day, and the next day is as sweet as pie.
what im trying to get to, and i apologize for the randomness of my sentances and thank you to anyone who has read all this....
but he hit me today.
i was laying down, trying to discuss that i felt disconnected with him, and why. trying to tell him things that would make me feel calmer, make me react in a better manner, just trying to talk. he got angry. I had taken my daughter to a carnival where we won a small unicorn picture she was very fond of. he smashed it on a wall. it broke her heart. i flew up at him. i didnt hit him, i just had to be close to him, between him and my daughters broken heart. and he hit me. im not hurt. im no stranger to being hit. i blocked his punches and kept him from overpowering me. when it was done my daughter was still holding the broken glass of her picture...
I need to leave. but where can i go now? i make 1200 a month... usually less. I dont work. i go to school. im not supposed to work because it is uncomfortable and painful for me to do so in the profession i know. and i could lose my disability, which provides medical, and care for my issues that i could otherwise not afford.
im hurt. im confused. and most of all, i feel so very very weak. he said he was sorry, that it was his fault. that he has been dealing with anger issues for years and that he is doing much better than he used to be.
I cant do this. i cant let my daughter grow up like this. she cant think its ok. i have to do better.
after he hit me she came up to him, with a boquet of flowers she made for him, and gave him a kiss and said thank you for being quiet now...
this is horrible. why should she feel affectionate towards him after that?
there was an incidence a couple months ago... where he kicked her hampster in its ball and threw my dog. got in my face, but didnt hit me. said it wouldnt happen again, apologized and we moved on.
i cant do this. whatever strength i had before seems gone. i have no support. my mother would be happy he hit me. my sisters dont care.
im so lost right now.

i understand the weakness. you've been worn to the ground, beaten down emotionally by this whole experience. let us give you strength in numbers. petit pois talks about us being your own private little arnmy of soldiers behind you at all times.
somewhere in you is the strength which sounds like is being blocked by fear right now. you know what to do. and you know how hard it is. take deep breath and got to a shelter. let them help you get back on your feet. you will rise like a phoenix again.
the va has an amazing women's ptsd program, just file that away for another day.
you're gonna be okay. you'll see. just put one foot in front of the other and make the decision today to not let your daughter grow up that way. you can make amends to her by getting out!
you can rest when you get to safety. no wonder yuo've been dissociated. i do it too. i know what it feels like to live in that state. you've not been safe so in that way you've not been honoring yourself. with ptsd that's exactly what you need to do is get to safety immediately. emotional as much as physical.
wrapping you in a warm cloud of love and support for your process....
Like you, I'm back here again for the support. And I'm really sorry for your situation.
I'm also glad you see how damaging this is for your daughter, but it's so great that you stood up to him in front of her to protect her. My husband was abused by his stepfather, and he told me it hurt even worse that his mother didn't protect him. (He is not my xn)
"i cant do this. whatever strength i had before seems gone."
You're wrong. You CAN do this. You have the tools and the knowledge and the strength and the smarts. You CAN do it.
I agree you should call your local shelter. You don't necessarily have to go live there, but they will know the resources available to you. You may consider calling the cops and reporting the abuse - which may open the door for more help. In any event, the shelter will let you know about resources in your area to help you get to a safe place in every sense of the word.
You've got support here. We've all fallen back from the progress we made, and have found the support here to get back on our emotional feet.
Warm hugs to you, Dracona.
Patty
First of all I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this place possible. It has been the branch to grab and avoid drowning for MANY women, and we cannot be too grateful. (((((hugs)))))
You have made this possible for us to share our stories and hurts, and to receive.
It is a permanent free give and take, which is symbolically interesting for WWLTM who can only give and have difficulty to receive.
Draconna, it is time to receive. To get back.
You have been here before, and you KNOW the way out. You have been better before and you can stand on your feet again.
No PTSD or any fear or core trauma can come between you and your desire and freedom to live. Fight with us, we are "l'armée des ombres", we are here, we are the backup!
USE this place! Share, vent, have a look on the WWLTM garden that was made from your first impulsion, many creative minds are here to BUILD and keep our heads up!

I don't know the procedure in your country but I know there is ALWAYS a solution for a jobless woman with a child. Don't use this as an allibi not to leave this guy...
When I was reading your post I had a mental image of your "partner", a big chubby selfih baby boy that I would be glad to slap a couple of times, I immediately got allergic to "him" like experiencing an anti-love-at-first-sight, I instantly knew he would be trouble, it was like knowing him for years and seeing the expert in bastardize he is....
Please, go away from that pathetic unavailable imature self centered waste of time.
And bring your girl away, she has a good heart and should not give this guy any flowers.... :/
Love and Serenity from Petit Pois
Besides my relationship, I am actually in a very blessed place in my life. The va approved me for 40% disability, and is paying for my school through my masters degree. once it kicks in i should be making enough to be OK. i dont have to work. I have a wonderful opportunity to make up all the time i had to spend away from my daughter because i had to work and go to school. for the next 4 years or so, i can be a MOM. a real MOM. have dinners... have actual weekends... laugh... play. When i am done with school i will have an actual job, with an actual degree that no one can ever take away from me. Nothing is going to stop me from going to school. I cant stop.
I wont be a statistic. I cant let that happen. I can love him... but i have enough built up anger in me to get me through it. Exactly what i have been trying to let go of. i dont need the anger anymore to protect me, or at least i thought i didnt. ha. there is a point where anger is good and natural. I remember a time when i couldnt be angry for what they did to me. but since the anger is still here, i can use it if i have to, because the anger and hurt that i never let go of, for every person who hit me, for the mother that was never a mother, the anger and hurt that keeps me up at night and head spinning. its all there. and he just fed the fire.
part of my guilt im feeling comes from the fact that i have this ptsd... its not easy to ask someone to be understanding of that. when im triggered im irrational, hurt, and need to be alone. I can be disasocciated. its like every damn thing that ever happened to me is flying in my face again in the present, and all i can do is wait till it passes.. then analyze what actually caused it and learn to recognize and put a stop to it before it takes over again.
He is not the worst that has been on my path by far... and its funny how some of the antics he has pulled after it happened are so textbook. first it was... he's sorry. he wasnt groveling at my feet about it though. then asking me why i flew at him like that... today its that he is going to quit ROTC after he only has less than a year left now and is pretty much garaunteed commission. he will throw it all away cause he cant do it without me... hes been doing it for us... blah blah blah friggin textbook. I wish so much that it was different. that i could believe him. but i cant. i know better. i want so much for something to be different...
I appreciate you all so much. Im sorry i was gone so long and to come back with this mess... I just was trying to put full focus on myself, to get myself in a better place personally.
One thing I hear in you over and over is your strong spirit and your courage! You are a mighty warrior! Don't lose sight of that. You have warred for women through this sight, through your love for others, and your words of wisdom. Don't you dare lose sight of that. You have been the instrument God used to save so many women on here! Believe that, because I am one!
I too felt myself being triggered by many of the things here and needed to take a break-but don't you dare feel guilt. That is normal with PTSD, and all the many places life has taken you. You are raising a strong young woman. Talk to her-she can take it. And let her know that you are fighting for what is right but just need time to figure out what that is.
You CAN DO IT!!!! You can!
I am praying for you-genuinely I am-and for your daughter! I have such admiration for you and believe in you!
Love and hugs
