Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.

Even though I felt I was over my abusive co-dependent relationship, I have been having trouble moving on. I thought I was ready to start dating again but some how I had not come to the end , still ruminating, analyzing, and wasting energy. Yesterday I went out to my friend's farm and had a ceremony. I had several years of journals, cards, and letters. I had kept these things because I thought it would help me realize why I wasn't going out with this person anymore. You know, when you get that weak feeling where you might call them. I had a bon fire. I burned all the journals, everything!! It felt really good just to experience the fire and watch those things burn. Today, I feel really positive. I feel more relaxed. I feel like I have reached the end and can focus all that negative energy in a positive way towards myself. I thought maybe sharing this would help someone else finally put closure to their unhealthy relationship.

I did something similar. When he was ignoring me one weekend, wouldn't answer his phone or texts at all and I had had enough of the games, I packed up EVERY SINGLE THING he ever gave me and drove an hour to his house. He wasn't even there. He had taken his dogs and left for the weekend (who knows what he was up to) and I left the shit on his porch. I left there feeling so empowered, like I had closure and I was done w/ his games and wasn't gonna waste another ounce of energy on him. However, it was a week later that I was running back to him again. So be careful... I found that my feelings of empowerment and strength were temporary.

If you saw WAITING TO EXHALE, you'll remember that when Angela Bassett's husband left her for a white woman, she took all her husband's expensive clothes and burned THEM! Of course that was a movie. In real life, actions have consequences. And it didn't change the fact that Angela had been cheated on and abandoned. She still needed to work through it.

I have had burning ceremonies in the past. They have helped me to get past what I was going through. I had almost forgotten about it, so thanks for the reminder. I need to do another one (or two). I am just tired of all the stupid games. And I'm tired of going back to "play" them once again. Hopefully, I will be able to leave this "game" alone....once and for all.
