Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.
My father desserted my mother and his 2 children in one of the coldest ways possible (your story wins) but my mother left a country with her 2 babies and he was supposed to follow and instead got my stepmother pregnant and married her while still married to my mother.
The point? I never knew any of this until I was an adult because my mother never involved me letting me know about her adult decisions (which is how it should be).
You are really projecting your feelings on your daughter.
Kids draw things, it does not really mean anything. A toddlers brain is completely undeveloped.
A great book that explains this is: The Happiest Toddler on the block
So don't take her drawings as a stab in the heart. All a child needs is love and good care. Some have an intact family, the majority do not. Some intact families are much more dysfunctional then 1 great single mother.
She will never remember this part of her life as I do not remember living in Cuba and coming to the States, but she will remember feeling safe and secure in the world. And thats all you to concentrate on! Stay in the moment because the future will take care of itself.
and now the conclusion i come to is... what affects them the most, is what you think they wont remember, cause you never really know. and i know when i asked, and was given some answer that i knew was putting me off, it would hurt my feelings cause i felt that no one thought i was smart enough to understand. once my daughter asked me what love was... i explained that it was many things, and a feeling inside your heart, she then asked if i loved daddy, or glen more... i explained that i loved them both differently. she was happy with that answer then went back to being a two year old.
where i am now is... maybe i shouldnt date anyone until my daughter is old enough to understand more... and that means a very very long time. and when she draws those pictures, she tells me "who" the daddy's are. i try to convert it into a game, not really acknowledging the daddy's, or drawing more mommies and more babies till the whole page fills up. and cats and dogs and horses too.
I also know that, you can never know if someone is the one or not. that is a long forgotten fantasy of mine... there is no "the one" for me anymore. i miss that old feeling, that power to daydream about these things, but these men i have been involved with, took it away, over and over again... since the first time i kissed someone.
Ive been kinda letting my daughter make the rules this weekend.... we havent left the house... one day she let mommy sleep, the next we watched tv... and now we play games. she will get to have fun as she goes to work with me to get dropped off to austin. i also feel like a bad mom, for the lack of time i get to spend with her, because of her being with him. but at the same time i need it, because of college.
i dont know. and i do still care for him, so that makes it harder. I just cant shake this feeling right now... i thought i would feel better in the morning but i dont. i just feel like i am carrying a sack full of cast iron skillets with no where to go in the desert.
