Women who Love too Much Community Group
WHEN BEING IN LOVE, MEANS BEING IN PAIN... This group is to help women through the journey of realizing they can love themselves. To help realize that they are capable of having a happy, healthy, whole relationship and break the cycle of abuse and heartache from loving emotionally unavailable men.
I am in recovery too and i had the same experiences- some more serious but basically the same. I am glad toare starting to look for help. I am new to this group myself and this is not what I have experienced from the typical 12 step groups. I would recommend looking for face to face meetings where you can see others and share your experiences strength and hope which is what is actually shared in recovery groups. Others share their experiences and the work with the steps and you start recovering from that point. If you do not choose to do that you may face discouragement because it requires hard work to recover and yes, at least I have not had a destructive relationship for years and working on recovery. I will probably have the chance to have a good relationship God knows - I live in peace without one - I do not need a man to help me bear with a the messiest life so I will probably choose right - God knows.
Anyway, keep coming here! everyone here has been a tremendous support to me.
Take care
If like me, you are interested in finding another relationship, I highly recommend the book (or better yet the class if you can find one) called-How to Avoid Falling for a Jerk or Jerkette". Great book, the class was even better. My class was offered by the county.
Anyhoo, sending you hugs and well wishes and support on the days you need it.
Osahermosa: yes, it is probably even more helpful to have face to face meetings, but this is a little difficult due to my current location - I am working in Kabul, Afghanistan, which is for me at the moment a kind of safe place - hahaha, who would have thought so... - in a way that I don't risk falling easily into another messie relationship. You are right, we need to be able to live in peace with ourselves and then, maybe, probably, we will meet someone who just accepts us as we are.
artgrrl: I also have the feeling that it is a long way to recover and I also re-read the book several times. Each time I do see a new aspect and while the first time I did mainly discover my unhealthy pattern in relation to men, I did uncover with the second read that my childhood was far from that happy as I had remembered it. Let us hope that the more we are aware of ourselves, the better we can avoid to suffer again.
yougospam - I feel with you. thanks for the booktip. on my end I feel it would be more healthy for me to stay away from men for a while. I am still too fragile, too easily hurt when someone isn't interested in me, too eagerly waiting for an email or chat message. I have more peace when I am alone although it makes me a little sad as I loose the last couple of chances to have a child. But I have lost too much energy in trying to find a potential father and husband. I guess, I should hold still and face the emptiness and just hug myself :-)
Any nice suggestions on how to pass those empty moments without looking out for a man?
Lots of hugs to all of you. We will feel better, I am sure. One step at a time. Take care!
