hi ladies! help me out here and post some tips for those who are trying/plan to lose weight. what are some things that have worked for you and what do you recommend?
here's mine:
always eat raw veggies and fruit (make smoothies with raw honey if you have to)
get some form of exercise even if it's walking or light swimming (15 - 20 mins) 3 - 4x a week
eat bigger meals during lunch and smaller meals for dinner (ex: salad & nuts/sandwich)
cut back on sodas and fast food
Always have a big glass of water before eating ... fills you up but sometimes I get hungry later. My worst time is when I get home from work at about 4.30pm ... I'm starving and I don't start preparing tea until at least 5.30pm. Try higher protein foods as they are more filling.
Have some dark chocolate in the middle of the day. It wakes you up and speeds up your metabolism. I crave sweets, especially chocolate. A small dove dark chocolate bar satisfies my craving for chocolate and is actually good for you. But don't forget to add it into your calories for the day.
Try to stay out of the kitchen, it's to easy to grab a snack when it's right in front of you.
When your feeling stressed or down instead of grabbing the chips or ice cream, journal for a few minutes. stress eating is a big problem for me and this has really worked.
I totally cut out Pepsi 3 weeks ago and began walking...so far I have lost 10 pounds just by doing those 2 small things....I was drinking anywhere from 8 to 10 cans a day of pepsi....at 160 calories per can that is a huge amount of empty calories....I finally put on a pair of jeans I have been unable to wear for the last 4 years.
Walking is the best exercise....if you want to step it up you can also walk carrying 3 pound weights in each hand or wear ankle weights. Also cut out eating too heavy in the evening. I also have found that drinking more water helps too...and it's better for you than surgary drinks.
Oh yeah and something my mother always told me "it's not what you eat BUT it's how much of it you eat"....that's why diets don't work because you have to give up the good stuff...so instead of giving up things just have a little....moderation is the key....by giving up some of your favorite things it makes you crave even more and you end up saying "to hell with this diet" and splurge on your favorite things....cutting back you will lose it slowly which in the long run is the best because you are more likely to keep the weight off....we don't need diets to help us lose weight....we need a lifestyle change....and that means eating in moderation and not over doing it.
I was told one time only eat for 12 hours of that day. IE- if you wake up at 9am you should not eat after 9pm.
Also what works for me sometimes, think about what ever your eating and think are the calories worth it. Is that (whatever your eating) going to look better of my fat ass or better on the plate. It won't make ya skinny but it might help with overeating.
