hi everyone. Have been desperately searching for a group of women who have experience with this new life my husband and I are facing. He's been on the job almost two years. A lot has changed in that time, no children yet but we have been married for almost seven years. Having a rough time navigating the many highs and lows this career brings about for us both. Hope to make some connections with you ladies here and be there for one another!

My husband has been a LEO for 15 years. I feel like the last two years have been the toughest! The level of respect and safety for LEO has declined quite a bit. I feel like the hard part as the wife is that when you try to discuss your concerns or fears with non LEO family members that just have no clue what this is like!!! No judgement, there is no way you can know what this is like unless you are living it! Their answers or words of encouragement just seem so empty or insignificant given the danger our spouses face daily! So I basically have isolated myself. It is not the way to do it. It's good you are reaching out early.

I am also in the same boat. My husband has been an LEO for two years and I can say this is one of the hardest things I had to adjust to. At times I feel I share my husband with his career. He is a loving and caring husband but his job demands so much from him. When he comes home he is so tired and now he is about to start graveyard for six months which has always been so hard for him physically and me emotionally as well. I agree with you too, no one else can understand because they don't know how it feels to be in this position. I don't blame them but I also don't reach out much, I pretty much only talk to my husband and one LEO wife friend. This is hard, but I know we can get through this.

It's really tough. I am brand new to all of this. I never know who I am going to get when he walks through the door at the end of the day. Some days I find he's on strict officer mode (don't piss him off), some days he's on a high, some days he's irritable, some days he's okay. It's an emotional roller coaster, and I feel like I just have to learn how to emotionally detach and reattach constantly.
