Hi I have been with my AH for more then 20 year we have no children together I do have 2 by my previous husbam. They are grown now with children of their own.
My AH back in Dec had a alchololic sezure and fell down a flight of stairs. We are now in the process of getting back surgery he is now disable to work and of course he is still drinking not as much as he used to. Now he has a new drug ..its all legal and in all honesty I don't think he could make it through the day without it with all the pain he is in.
I am working thank god that does help pay the bills the thought of leaving now is impossible.
So now I'm here till the end. I do try to get out and what I can find happiness in. Sometimes I just have to get away.or ill go totally crZie. I know what feeling trapped feels . O can dream of happier times with my children and grandchildren ... One say...
My prayer and thought are with you all I pray for strength and good health and love
This might not seem like it is true, but most of you can determine a lot about how you experience life. You are not trapped, the truth is, you could pack your bags and walk out the front door this afternoon if you wanted to. However, you have chosen to remain with your husband in this situation. So, if this is your choice, it is in your best interest to make the best of what it is rather than focusing on what is wrong, unfair, unpleasant, etc. Easier said than done, yes, true, but still within your power to change. Prayer does work miracles. Also, honestly and diligently monitor your own thoughts. If you find your mind wandering to negative things or you start to feel resentful, stop yourself and ask if you have a part in it. If you do, change your part. That is all you can do. Your husband made choices that created his current circumstance, that you cannot change. However, you have a lot of life ahead and you deserve to be happy. Good luck.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you all but between work and home and just being plum wore out i have finnaly made back.
You both are right iI have made a choice to stay even though I do wish I could just pack my bags and begone . He is my husband right or wrong I will stand behind him as long as I can.
Keep me in your prayers I need all I can get.
Wishing everyone a great and safe day
Bonblue--Hang in there. If this is the right choice for you, then you have our support. There is a hidden gift in what you are experiencing. Above all, take good care of yourself. We continue to support you and all alcoholics, their spouses, friends and family members in prayer.
My heart goes out to you! My husband had a spinal fusion in january 2010, he has legal meds that help (kind of), but uses alcohol for other "issues" as well. If you need to chat, we are all here for you!
