The way I deal with life is having a sick/dark sense of humor. People who are or have been abused usually develop "gallows" humor to deal with the pain and sometimes, some darn funny stuff happens if you step back and look at the situation from a comedic perspective.
My AH drinks all day and night and does not have a sleep schedule. Usually I cannot go to sleep until he is in his bedroom with the door shut. He smokes and sometimes passes out with a lit cigarette (I know, where's the humor in that right? How horrible and dangerous, right?). Yes and it sucks ass.
HOWEVER, this morning I walk into the kitchen to find him passed out sitting up in his chair. As I sneaked around to see if he was dead, I notice a lit cigarette had fallen between his legs on the leather chair. I got angry and poked him in the stomach with my finger nail to wake him. He was so startled that he kicked his legs really fast off the ground and pushed the chair backwards. He is a big guy so the chair tipped backwards and he went down on his back, chair and all like a ton of bricks. He screamed OWWW and then he yelped in this high pitch whine OOOOOOOHHHHH. The cigarette had rolled under his ass and burned him good.
He laid there on his back like a turned over turtle waving his arms and legs "HELP ME UP, HELP ME UP, ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?" I couldn't help him up because I was backed against the counter with my legs crossed almost pissing myself with laughter. I was literally imobilized with laughter, I couldn't breathe, my stomach hurt and the longer he laid there, the funnier it got. I kept replaying the fall in my head in slow motion and the squeal when the lit smoke burned him in the ass. I am giggling like a lunatic just writing this so I had to share it with you ladies.
My big bad hubby, my protector, laid out like some Three Stooges skit was too funny. If any of you have any funny moments, please share them. We could all use a good laugh.
Thank you for sharing - i heard that laughter exercises our livers...yours got a work out! i am thankful that the situation was not violent and slapstick funny.
OMG thanks for sharing! Sometimes I feel so mean , but honestly if you put some of my Prince Charming’s antics in a sit-com... it would be a hit. Even tonight watching him stomping around in a rage trying to convince me he wasn’t drinking made me laugh.
Many times when he gets worked up I have to concentrate on keeping my face neutral so I don’t start laughing.
So here my story: he is sitting at the other end of the couch, irritatingly wasted. I’m just minding my own business over here at my end. Suddenly I realize he is sitting there with a container of ice cream and a spoon. I’m looking out of the corner of my eye so he doesn’t see me BUT... he cannot seem to get the spoon from carton into mouth! So he dips the spoon - raises it up- then sticks out his tongue- searches with that greedy tongue for the spoon- guides spoon into mouth with tongue. It was fascinating. I was riveted. Then the poor thing passed out mid spoonful ice cream melted and spilled into crotch. Sigh..... so stupid
hilarious! I'm so glad its not just me.... I could just sit for hours watching the stupid things my AH does. My favorite is watching him eat after he's been drinking all day, it doesn't matter if he's eating a steak or a bologna sandwich the look on his face, his eyes closed looking as if he's in the middle of an orgasm! That's why I don't eat in public with him....
Ah, you guys are hilarious! I love that you call your husband PRINCE CHARMING. So accurate!!! But you gotta laugh at the absurdity of it all. We married these men, they are our heroes, can lift 100's of pounds, are the foundation of any good family and yet they cannot even eat ice cream right.
I pictured in my head a large gorilla who never saw a spoon or ice cream and was trying to figure it out to stupid cartoon music, while a large group of people at the zoo are behind a large glass enclosure (for THEIR protection).
For years I didn't laugh because I didn't want to start shit, but lately, I laugh and mock him at every turn. If he gets pissed, SO WHAT? You wanna see a drunk's head explode? CALL HIM A DRUNK WHILE HE'S DRUNK.
See these funny stories do not help our problem, but the laughter makes us feel better, even if it's for one minute. I've got 35 years of stories. We should start a thread for funny stories so people can relate and for people who desperately need a laugh.
