so ...... my Prince Charming is Alcohol " free" for about 90 days ( with one Doosey of a relapse day about 1/2 in).
im sad to report that things are NOT better ( except for the absence of holes in walls, broken furniture, etc due to drunken blundering). He is still using benzo tranquilizers .... which make him irritable, nasty, remote, confused and stupid- ugh ( believe me, if they made him tranquil, I'd give them to him myself! Ugh ).
the night before last I'm am woken by a phone ringing at 12:15 am.... turns out that for some reason my AH thought he received am email stating he had to change his passwords to our 401 account. Being a technological nitwit with NO short term memory and anger management issues.... well you can imagine. I usually try not to rescue, but felt that he was screwing with OUR financial security, so I got up and solved the problem.
the next day was hell. During our "discussion" ( although he admitted he was a mean nasty man with a superiority entitlement ) he told me that our marriage was damaged beyond repairing because of me. He said this: " Friday is Valentines Day, and I didn't even get you any shit! Ya know why? Because I JUST DONT CARE!" ( this morning after a doctor appointment he walked in with two huge bouquets of roses and literally shoved them at me, no kind words, OMG he is so pathetically miserable. )
Anyway, I refuse to lower myself to his level.... two years ago I bought him a valentine card ( generic, no lovey message, a pop up one w no room to write.... I saved it and used it last year..... I saved it and will reuse it tomorrow. I will pick up some lottery tickets- because if he wins- I win.
I’m so sorry...my AH is sober almost a year and it’s rough. I don’t know if it will ever get better or be “normal.” If it’s not alcohol, it’s flirting, or anger, or depression. Some days are amazing but very few in between. I still find myself questioning our relationship all the time. I’m just happy he’s sober because the drunken days were horrible. Happy Valentines Day to you❣️ I didn’t get anything nor give anything. I’ve gotten used to it.
