I've been pretty quiet.
So, I'm in the agonizingly slow (thanks Covid backlog in the courts!) Process of getting divorced. Started last May and we have litterally met ONCE regarding it. He was drunk during that meeting too so needless to say it went no where.
My lovely attorney advised me to move out if I was able to. Thankfully, oh so thankfully, I've been the one supporting the family and I could move out. Took our child, took the cats, paid for 2 apartments for a month until the lease I was on lapsed.
Husband removed himself from the lease too to avoid eviction- unemployed, no chance he could afford it alone.
So, 9 days before he was supposed to move out? He calls me and begs me to pick him up from jail- he'd FINALLY gotten the inevitable DUI I'd been furious that he wasn't getting. Stupid police told me when I called I had to call when he was actively on the road and knew roughly where he was. Not helpful at all!
Anyway, he was going to move to his car (no income, no one who was going to take him in) and now his car was impounded. I freaked.
My brother-in-law, for better or worse, got the car out of impound. Yes, allowing my husband to once again not face his consequences but also making it so he would actually move out.
Left the place a mess, full of stuff etc. So, with a toddler and a SAINT of a landlord? I frantically the day after the lease lapsed cleaned the place out. Thanks landlord for allowing me extra time!!
Suddenly a little while later he disappears. Then I get an abusive voicemail telling me "I don't know if you care but I'm in care." With when he "Might" get out. No info on where he is or how to get ahold of him.
His family either doesn't know or won't tell me. Even with me telling them we have court. (2 days after he might be out)
Anyway, it's been kinda nice having him in rehab and not bothering me. I'm really nervous about him getting out.
It's also SO lonely- particularly this time of year- living alone, being a single stay at home mom day in, day out. I can go days only talking to my toddler. This is where I fear him weasling himself back in and I'm so mad our divorce is taking so damn long. Particularly with him being sober? It's scary.
I logically know he only went to rehab because he was facing the DUI, he was living in his car, and he was cold and hungry with no money. He'll relapse- eventually. No doubt in my mind. I need to stick to my guns.
I'm just really lonely. I hate being single (technically still married but, whatever, I've been emotionally divorced for over a year!)
That's my update. Hope everyone is doing okay- this is such a hard time of year!!
