Hi everyone,
I hope you are all well and coping and looking after yourselves.I just thought I would share my lates news. My hubby has gone back to our home town to get detox. After spending the best part of 7/8 years with an alcoholic and now having the next six months to myself, I am feeling very relaxed and feel like I can breath properly for the first time in a very long time.
I have quickly realised that it wasn´t me that was the problem, we all do it no matter how many people tell you it´s not your fault and its an illness. We all still go through the ´Have I done something to cause this?´
Now that I have time to myself I can see things so much more clearly and I do realise that our relationship was one of dependence and co dependence in a repetitive cycle.
I do still love my husband very much but I also need to love myself , something that is completely alien to me and new.
I am working on actually looking in the mirror and liking what I see.
My point here is don´t get sucked in to this cycle of doom. Put yourself first. I have had one week on my own and feel relaxed and happy for the first time in a very long time.
I am getting invites to lunch and dinner from friends, which all stopped the last two years.
I really hope that my husband gets through his detox and comes out the other side but right now I am focusing on myself.
Many time we get dragged down like they say missory loves company.
I am so glad for you to get a breather from your husband to see you are still
The same person before you met your husband . Now focus on your needs
Too. He has to help himself and you get strength from a allonon group. Take what
You need and leave the rest . We all share your joy and heartache.
Many prayers and hugs
