I read a book today, living with an alcoholic by Cherry Parker. It was like the the answer I've been waiting for. It has given me so much comfort, strength and peace. It will make you laugh, you will cry and you will sit there and think "She is writing my life story"
It just gave me some sense of understanding that I can be happy. Today for a long time I let go.
I stopped worrying, I stopped fretting about what I was going home too, I just let things be. Do you know what, there was nothing to worry about. My AH was drinking (He has been for a week) but my house was tidy, he had cleared the plate he had dropped and smashed in the kitchen (I would normally clear it), he had bagged all the empty cans and he went to bed.
Not saying every day/week/month will be like this but today I found peace and that anxious feeling in my stomach when I'm driving home from work wasn't there.
If you get the chance, read her book. If anything it will make you realise, you are important.
good for you! it is such a difficult decision as a 'girl' to ignore the domestic chores as they pile up in our head. We feel guilt if we do not do everything.
good for you to let go - even if it was just for a few minutes!
I too have decided that it is not my job to be and do everything. if he cleans up after himself so be it - if not so be it.
I love those 'ah ha' moments.
