Sitting in Vegas........with a lost husband

So yes, well aware that Vegas probably isn’t the smartest idea but our daughter is a competitive gymnast that has a meet here this weekend.  My husband has been sober for 20 days and we made a deal with him to have a few since he had never been here.  Fast forward a lot of drinks and passing out in the hotel, he is now LOST in Vegas.  I took the kids to walk around and see some sights and I get a text asking where we were.  I told him we were picking up McDonald’s and heading back to the room.  Needless to say that was an hour ago and he is LOST.  He has no idea where he is, what hotel he is in.  Nothing.  Turns out he at least figured out he was in the wrong hotel at the wrong door.  He wants me to come save him. I want so badly for him to get hauled to jail or something.  Teach him a freaking lesson.  My daughter, 10, even called him and begged him to stay in the room.  She sat with me at McDonald’s on the strip and just cried. We both cried while riding the roller coaster.  I have done everything I know how to do.  I can’t seem to get through to him.  I’m an idiot I know.

Nope- not an idiot. I've been here- not in Vagas, in NYC but- pretty much the same thing. My husband and I were attending a wedding and I decided to retire to the hotel room early because I was in the bridal party and it was, quite possibly, the LONGEST wedding day in the history of ever but, that's another story. My husband decided that he wanted to go to the after party which wound up at the local bar only a few blocks away- quite easy to navigate sober, not so much when blind drunk. Once it got to be 1 in the morning and bars were closed I started to wonder where in the heck he was. He had my phone since I was in a dress all day without pockets so, I kept calling my phone and calling my phone but he wouldn't answer, to this day I he claims it was off and has no recollection of calling me on it to inform me that he was lost and had no idea where he was. I started to go out to look for him but didn't want to get lost myself, in NYC, in the small hours of the morning. And- what were my chances of just randomly finding him anyway? He didn't turn up until 4 in the morning having finally sobered up enough to think to hail a cab and tell the driver what hotel we were staying at. It was so scary, I was horribly worried about him and, frankly, it was pretty embarrassing sitting in the lobby with my friend's phone (she was kind enough to let me barrow it on the off chance he'd remember he had my phone and call the number that was blowing it up) hotel staff kept coming up to me to ask if I needed anything. No, I was just sitting there hoping that he'd eventually walk by, which is actually what happened, he was still so drunk when he got out of the cab that he started to walk right past the hotel. Anyway, long way of saying you're not alone. Those feelings are ones that never go away- the fear, the shame of the hotel staff pestering me and my finally having to tell them what was going on so they'd leave me alone and the anger of knowing he was too drunk to think logically on how to solve the problem (hell, my phone has GPS, all he had to do was google the hotel and boom- directions on how to get back to where he needed to be!) I'm not quite following what is happening- do you know where he is? Or is he missing? If I read right, he's at the wrong hotel somehow? What you do tonight is up to you but I understand your thoughts and feelings and you are by no means an idiot. I feel for you and your child- how awful for a 10 year old (and you of course!) *big hugs* I know how long and emotional nights like this are- firsthand.
