My husband and I have been together 15 years and he has always abused alcohol. I realized it was alcoholism when he couldn't stop when it became a problem. After years of trying to quit, the last few years he only drinks once every few months but it is like "chug hard liquor at 9am totally random" drinking. It is scary because I'm afraid of him driving (which he has done) and losing his job (which he hasn't done but has drank at lunch and didn't go back). Does anyone else have this issue? How has it gone?
Oh I'm so sorry. My husband has ruined his health, no longer has a job, and thinks this is actually a marriage. He does his drinking early in the mornings so he won't appear drunk when I come home from work at 4:15. Boy is he stupid. I'm so done and discouraged that my goal is to completely ignore it and him. And to engage in conflict as little as possible.
My husband landed a dream job several years ago. Working from home at 100,000$ a year as a district mabager with a little bit of local travel to visit clients. Guess what? He would be passed out drunk on the couch most days by noon. Needless to say that job ( his last) ended promptly. Sigh.
