It's baffling, isn't it? You'd think that at some point they'd feel embarrassed that they couldn't carry on a normal conversation. My AH was quite drunk the other night coming home from work, and he was pretending to be sober with our oldest kid. But he couldn't remember what our oldest was saying from one minute to the next. They even made plans for the next morning. Of course, AH didn't remember those plans, and bailed without letting our oldest know.
I've decided to just stay silent, and not intervene in these non-sensical conversations, between AH and others. If I get involved in any way, then I become the target for AH's passive-aggressive comments and behavior.
I think the not caring if their lies are found out or not, is part of the degenerative effect on the moral character of alcoholics.
jms, I hope you have a good day, today. Do something just for yourself, something that makes you smile.
Thanks for the support
My favorite sentence is " the degenerative effect on the moral character... " I needed those words. After wasting a bit of time trying to have a meaningful talk with Prince Charming this morning ( at least I wasn't screaming) I took myself to the mall and then I'm meeting a friend for lunch. I don't want to do either one if these things, but I cannot be in the house with him. I'm allowing myself one extravagant purchase and then a guilt free margarita.
That's an amazing question. I've wondered a million times how he can remember a lie when control of the English language eludes him. Guess lying is second nature like breathing.
Hope you are enjoying your day out!
Okay I bought a wallet, a cell phone case with crystals and hearts lol, and a fairy for my garden. Had a nice lunch and then spontaneously had my hair highlighted.
I was gone ALL DAY.... I've never done that before. I should do it more often! But I need to find less expensive pursuits .
