So here we are again....today is day 2 of sobriety, in all honesty he drank so much on Friday that I believe he still had enough in his system to make today his first day of sobriety. He flipped out on me this morning over something so silly and has completely blown it way out of proportion!!! I literally went on Friday night and picked up HIS prescription and bought milk....then this morning he finally snapped that I did that and told me “you just take it upon yourself to be the boss” what??? because he was passed out drooling on himself on Friday I went and did normal household functions and he is really telling me that because I didn’t discuss spending money with him first!!! It’s not like I broke the bank, we make plenty of money so I’m not really sure where this is coming from....When I responded with “you don’t consult me when you spend $30 a day at the store” he of course flipped out even more saying that I am trying to bring him down and throw everything at him.....anyone else going through this???
I believe they have so much anger and hatred for themselves when drinking that because they can't shout and insult themselves they aim it at us. Regardless of what they start raging it about it's all the anger and desperation at their situation any old subject will do to vent. It's just heart breaking that we bear the brunt of it. My AH is angry at the world, his family, friends, life..... but none of this comes out when he isn't drinking, when the beer flows so does his mouth.... I just have listen to it. It's exhausting.
So sorry I know what you mean..i know my experience with my AH.. he becomes extremely irritable when he is going sober. He also seem to do things that I cant wrap my head around..like hes confused or something. His body has relied on alcohol for so long that it doesn't know how to act when sober. I hate the withdrawal symptoms..they can sometimes be worst than when he's drunk. Dont for a SECOND think you're in the wrong when he tried to manipulate you or bring you down. Remember he's the one with mental health issues not you so just take it one day at a time..hugss
Hi Alex,
I can understand because my other half acts odd sometimes, I used to try to figure him out until I closed up about acknowledging the strange behaviour. I placed a new rule this morning due to being fed up of sleep depravation. When he starts being sick in the mornings he sleeps on the sofa. I feel very energised today. :) I did warn him if he doesn't make the change is to give up drinking. Then I will, we are about to move to a 2 bed property. At least he can move to the other bedroom when he starts his sick rampages. I don't have sympathy for him anymore. He rants at me several times a day.
He threw a tantrum, so I recorded for peace. He was surprisingly quiet. We need to do what we need to do to get a break from these.
Usually, I can resist him if I wasn't drained.
