Ah is home now from detox after 3 days in the hospital. He came home last night. Today was his first day sober. U have to admit it was nice. Its probably been 3 years or more since he was sober even just for one day. I cant even remember a day he wasnt drunk. Its been that long. But today was my nephews 17th bday. My mom was in town from out of state. It was pleasant without hostility or worries. We had a nice family dinner and bday cake. Is this how it feels to be "normal"???? I pray this is forever. But one day at a time. if just for a little while..... keep ya posted

Yes, I think that's how normal feels....to the best of my memory! I hope it lasts.

Yes it is nice when they are sober. It gives us an opportunity to experience some normalcy at least for a moment. I pray that your husband stays on the sober track. I am still hopeful of my husband but I must admit it is getting harder and harder with each passing year. I am beat down by the struggle and sickness.

I am right with you. After 17 years of drinking, my husband announced this morning that he is done drinking. We had fought last night about random things, and this caught me off guard. I found myself crying from relief. I've sought out this group because I know it's not going to be an easy road to recovery. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, but I am praying with everything I am that he really means it.

Every day is a precious gift you get to have with him . I pray every single day for addictions to be broken off of people...including your husband
