My husband had been doing good with trying to stay sober for about a year until the other night. I came home from work and he was shit face drunk. He broke a glass of his beverage in my daughter's playroom. He stammered to clean it up and as he was ge began to scream at me in front of our three year old. I told him to leave go walk it off. Fast forward.. midnight I get a call from the police. They took my husband to the E.R. and they found him unconscious on the side of the road. Morning comes and I have to pick him up at the E.R. cluster F#@#@! The past four days have been about finding a program.. It's crazy. I am just lost.. Between him and my job of working with kids with high needs I am exhausted. I feel like I am never without stress. I feel numb not knowing what to do... I am just stuck with no refuge..
are there counselor people to assist with locating a facility? is your husbands family able to help at all? can you reach out to others to have them help carry some of the load?
I hope you are able to find perhaps just a minute or two to just close your eyes and breath?
I cannot believe the ER doesn't send him to a program. It happened to my husband years ago, and ER gave him some contacts to detox centers, AA programs, etc. The hospital cannot force him to go. Did the ER give some referrals? The longer he waits, the chances of him going to any program diminished.
I understand what you are going through, it is exhausting. Try to find any help you can get. Find friends or family members to take care of your daughter even for a few days. Try to find yourselves a counselor (not for him, but for you). I wished I did that back then.
