And Soooo....Ah went with his brother yesterday afternoon. Brother was gonna "sober him up!!" Well, AH didnt come home last night. so this morning I called his cell phone. no answer. After several calls to BIL. He finally picks up the phone. Apparently, instead of sobering him up. They drank. When AH didnt respond well. LOL. BIL took him to the ER. BIL didnt call me and let me know. So, AH is now in detox and his a**h*le brother is patting himself on the back for "doing right by his brother" I should mention that the brother hasnt been in AH husband life for 3 yrs. and that he is also an alcoholic, doesnt work (I always wondered how a person who never worked gets disability) ANyway, AH will be in detox for 3 days now. and after that well who knows. But after hearing all the stories here I dont expect much good to come out of it. Where there should be a glimmer of hope I fell instead the beginning of the end. Where rehabs start, relapses happen and eventually its the end. For those of you who dont know me. Married 24 yrs. AH drinks 3-4 bottles of straight whiskey a day. Always been a drinker but the last say 5 yrs its been BAD. and just keeps getting worse. I just want it to end. And I swear if he goes back to drinking after this. I am done. I dont care if I have to live in a tent. I will be done.
How long are they keeping him for? At least you have a break.
Has he started experiencing liver failure? Hopefully they will give him a medical workup so he knows the damage he has caused. Find out what his physical condition is if you can. (HIPAA laws in the US prevent doctors from telling you without his permission.) Then you can get an idea of how quickly his continued drinking will kill him. I hope my comments aren't too negative -- I've gone through this with my sister. (My husband hasn't hit end-stage liver disease.)
Your BIL sounds like a real gem. Here's a random thought -- maybe you can get your AH to go live with him and get them both out of your life.
LOL! EXJerseyGirl2 thats the plan! If he doesnt do it this time. First sign of alcohol in this house he is out to his brothers! And he WILL die there! This is his last chance. I expect him to fail, but maybe.... At least if he fails I will know I did everything i could and gave him every chance there was.
So sorry to hear about your sister. I just dont get it. MY AH says its because I have never been addicted to anything. I cant understand. I dont accept the "its a disease" thing. A disease u have no control over. They CHOOSE to drink. I expect he is very close to en stage liver disease. He bleeds terrible. has for yrs. Never a good bowel movement. diarrhea mostly. black tarry a lot of the times. Its this or death. If he doesnt make recovery I suspect he will be dead before the years out.
Thanks for your response. This sight has been a lifesaver
