Have just been so upset the past couple of days and unable to even look at my AH. Our 14yr old is a cat lover and resuced a kitten last year that can't move his back legs so he gets around by pulling himself with front paws. Its sad but this cat can maneuver all over the house but has difficulties controlling his bladder and bowels. So she has to bath and clean up after the cat daily. When she brought the kitten home it was only to be for 10 days till we could find someone to take him in. AH felt bad and told her she could keep the kitten provided that she kept up with the cleaning. She's a young teen and doesn't know the depth of the responsibilites that she had taking care of a handicapped animal. (he's like a baby) After awhile it was alot and at times I had to pitch in and help but it wasn't enough he took this as a reason to argue. So the past months all I have heard is "get rid of the cat NOW" I completley agree that she's over her head with this but why would you agree to let her keep something and later take it back. She already has no respect what so ever for him for the drinking. So monday after a weekend of him we decided to let my older daughter take the cat to a shelter and see if they could do something... They wanted to send the cat to their vet and have him tested and xrays done to see what or if anything could be done to help the cat. Keep in mind this cat is a year and a half old and has lived with this all its life. The sweetest cat! So my daughter took and dropped off at the vet and advised that she would call that afternoon to check and see what they found out. I called just 4 hrs after dropping the cat off the be told that he was suffering from major neurological problems and that they put him down! I stopped breathing as she explained, how would I tell the 14 yr old that he forced our hand and now her cat is gone. She would never want to have the cat suffer but please tell me why after over a year living this away it was better to put him down. I cried all the way home from work but I can't ever tell her the truth. I'm so dang mad at him right now, I knew she couldn't handle this in the beginning but for him to say keep it then get rid of it. And I can't yell at him or even let him know what happened to the cat because I know that one day it would come out. He would somehow get in his mood and would say something to her. She would be compeletly devastated! He won yet again but he doesn't know that its just pushed me even futher away. I don't even have that sober I love u feeling anymore.
I don’t even have words for this. Trying to get inside an alcoholics head is too frightening for me.
I send love.
