I have been able to only because my exAH has no legal or physical rights to the kids. My 13 yo changed his phone number so that his father cannot contact him. The exAH has set times to call the house, 7-8 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. I can't remember the last time he called and one of the kids wanted to pick up the phone. Its their choice and I don't pick up the phone either.

Do you share custody of the kids? If so, you might want to think about a middle person to deal with the transition. I have a friend who drops her daughter off at her mother's house then her ex picks the kids up there. It all depends on the circumstances.

Thanks for the replies, I haven't actually left him yet. I am thinking of all the possible scenarios before hand to prepare myself. It will be hard both the kids love him very much. julie
