Wives of Alcoholics Community Group
A forum of healing and help for wives of alcoholics.
I plan on having a very serious talk with my AH later this week. Basically, I plan to tell him the ways his alcohol abuse is hurting his family and ask that he please seek out sobriety for himself. I want to explain to him that while I will try to stick by him during his legal troubles (a DUI, of course), if he has not chosen sobriety by the conclusion of his legal stuff, then I will be establishing a life independent of him.
What words, phrases and tones should I avoid? Also, what words, phrases and tones would be beneficial?
Any advice is appreciated.
I understand the importance of this conversation and know that I need to follow through on anything I say will happen if he doesn't choose sobriety.
I am ready to be happy again and not dragged through a lifetime of the unpredictable and destructive behavior I have been experiencing in our years together.
Thank you.
