I'm up early this morning worrying about the things that are happening. My 8 yr. old daughter is afraid of her Dad especially after he grabbed her by the neck last night and pushed her off a camping chair. I'm sick over this and knowing that I need to get out of here but don't know where to go. Family is out of the question. That's all I can say for now, have to get in the shower before husband waked up....I dread seeing him. don't know if I should say anything to him or not......
I'm so sorry, honey. Been there. Please say something. His actions are out of control now. Start planning a life without him somehow. It won't be safe for him to be around any of you soon. You are walking on eggshells as I once did. I remember that feeling of dread. My AH died and I am free. Came back to this group because I need to remember things. It helps with the mourning process I'm going thru. Be strong! You're not alone.
Iladyjsde999 is right. Start making a plan for you and you children
I too had to start making plan for my life in the future. Today I was able
To buy a pc of property close to my daughter and that way I will have family closer
Now I just need to work with a realito to find.
It give some relief that my future will be some brighter. Then now
Many hugs and many prayers
Please say something so he knows what he did, or if he does know, that you make it quietly clear that it is not okay to physically push your daughter around.
Do what you can to protect your daughter and yourself.
I am so sorry to hear this....I am sure you are beside yourself.
I do not have a physically violent AH, but, I can see that he is getting more belligerent as his alcoholism progresses--. With that in mind, I personally would be concerned that in your case, it may escalate--especially if he made a physical move towards your little girl.
My dad was an abusive and violent alcoholic--and I still remember him going after my mom (even as I clung to her legs), and I clearly recall his frequent tantrums where he would empty the contents of the house into the front yard. It didn't start like this--it escalated to the point.
My heart truly goes out to you and your little girl.
If income is your worry with regards to getting out, there are a few things you might check into such as : Co-op's where they provide low cost housing based on your income and basic living expenses.
Secondly, your state may offer rental assistance, food stamps, child care assistance and free counseling for both you and your daughter. I know this varies from state to state---but, as you ponder what is best to do, these may be options for you.
Chances are, I am not telling you anything you don't already know...but, starting an exit plan will give you a little sense of security and empowerment---even if you are not ready to make that move yet.
If he is reasonable when not intoxicated, telling him your daughter is terrified might shake him into the reality that he is becoming out of control.
Wishing you the best of luck---((giant hug))
You need to get out and go to a domestic violence shelter..You need to protect your child. What he did was abusive to your daughter and in the eyes of the law if you stay in a situation where she is being abused its the same as you are abusing her. Alcohol does not make someone abusive unless they already have the tendency to do so. My first husband was abusive and not an alcoholic.Your children deserve a better life and the shelter can help you get on your feet. I hope you do reach out to some kind of services Take care.
