Does anyone else have a husband or spouse that's been drinking so so long that their to the point they can't even remember what they said or done 5 minutes ago? Do you have to tell them several times what you just told them 5 minutes ago? Am I the only one? One of many issues we have to deal with.
It is a form of dimentia caused by alcohol, mine has been in this state for several months. He asks about dinner I answer then 2 minutes later he asks again. He is functioning still and am convinced that the alcohol is keeping him alive now. I used to worry about him until recently. He has chosen his path in life whether I agree or not. I am more concerned about my wellbeing because of many time trying to care for him was rejected. Here is some information about the answer to your post.
I think mine enjoys asking and asking and asking, I respond 1 or 2 times then I say, you'll find out sooner or later. Mine also doesn't remember going to sleep or waking up or what they said or did the day before. I am too young to take care of a dementia person who brought it on themselves. Others can take care of him, I won't. Thanks Sweetiepie212121
Yep or having foggy brain... sometimes when I talk to him while he's sober of course.. he has a delay on his response or he doesn't understand basic comprehension .. making me repeat myself to make sure he understands. My AH was never like this before the addiction got worst...hes actually really bright

Yes, and it drives me crazy! A lonely life at this point when u have something that you wanna share but what’s the point if the one person your supposed to have there can’t remember a thing you say! So now I only say it once and when he asked a question that I’ve already answered I don’t care if I hurt his feeling I tell him that we’ve already talked about it. If he needs to know he can ask when sober!
Mine. All the time. Drives me crazy. I end up snapping at him by the third time's I have to repeat myself. You aren't alone and I'm glad to see I'm not either.
This was quite possibly the thing that drove me the most insane when my husband was drunk- he'd ask me the same thing, over and over, and then wonder why I'm getting irritable. He'd bitch that I didn't communicate with him, that anyone he talked to while drunk made absolutely no sense, he'd tell me I "just said" something I didn't say at all- often times, something that didn't make any sense at all. Eventually, I learned to tell him how many times he's asked me the question, tell him it's the same answer I gave him the first 3 times he asked, and to say nothing else. He hated it and would fume about it but, I had to do it for the sake of my sanity, it was so aggravating!
Wow this thread totally validates things that happen in my house. My husband would get mad at me for telling him that I already told him something. He couldn’t understand why I would get so frustrated with him. He never remembered anything. So I basically don’t hold conversations with him anymore. Pure silence in the evenings. Now I don’t have to get upset when he gets mad at me for telling him I already told him something. Such a great life that I live. NOT!!
